Hi all soon to be fellow classmates! I just wanted to start this thread up so we didn't have to go weaving through all of the older stuff on the old threads.
I am really excited about starting school come January, really nervous though too. I have a lot to get done between now and then and sometimes I just don't think there is enough time in the day. Oh well, I plan on enjoying the holidays and working my buns off to save some money so that isn't an additional stressor during the first semester.
So lets post our questions, our thoughts and hopefully just get to know one another! And again....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Hi everyone! I'm at SG campus. Do you know if there are any international students accepted (coz I am an international student, just curious)? Also, should I get the lab coat with long sleeves or short sleeves? Thanks!
I plan to go to Student Health in Baltimore next week for my 2nd PPD shot. I got all of my vaccinations and titers done at UMD College Park when I was "accepted" to Montgomery College so they gave me a discount for the works ($200 is still a lot but cheaper than the doctor's office). Is anyone working while they're full-time in school this semester? I'm working every other Sunday, and I have a feeling most exams will be on Mondays

i would assume long over short sleeves for lab coats.... I'm having a hard time finding one that fits me. I feel "lost" in my jacket because it's so big. I'm going to check out the bookstore soon.

AH HAHAHAHa... yea... try allhearts.com next time. it's a lil pricey because of shipment. but, i got xxs petite.... they somewhat fit?! i still need to hem it
lol @ blue and sledina... i saw something about nursing informatics...what course number is that??... thot it was 304,333,315, nd 320??? nd like blue said i would suggest you get a long sleeve lab coat. i need a room mate!!! in shady grove... class schedules are far apart...where wld i be for that 4hrs wait??? hopefully i make friends quickly!.. can wait to see everyone!!!...btw do u think $70 is expensive for cpr trainning???
umbismylife $70 is fair you can def find it cheaper. I think PG community college was $80 when i looked into it. and I have paid $60 in the past.
I will be heading over from hyattsville as well - hoping to rely on some public transit, but will occasioanlly have to drive. didn't want to drive cause transit time is quality study time, but maybe we could quiz each other on drive:idea:
some of the space between classes offers time for open lab practice or just general study...and we don't have all of our lab times listed yet..I think sched will get filled pretty quickly
Thanks blue and umbismylife :) I'll get long sleeve lab coat, and I'll look for my size scrub pants in allhearts. I made a mistake, got two pair of pants and I look like aladdin in them now . probably will return one pair and experiment with fixing the other as I managed to remove all the tags already.
$70 sounds like a good price. I paid $95 for the class at GWU!! crazy..

I was wondering what I was going to do during those times too... I think we may have lab or something in between (since lab and clinics haven't been posted). We can study or go out to eat during those 4 hrs :)
i think i paid $85 at Montgomery College for CPR class last summer. so $70's good!
i thought the informatics is that class we weren't supposed to take this semester...
Name tag probably will be given to us when they do our IDs and badges are at bookstore.

I'm getting two pairs of the same scrubs because they fit me the best.

Scrubs: all you need is a white top with a patch (which you can put on yourself) and khaki colored (not khaki material) bottoms.l
Steth: It does not matter. Period. As long as it has a bell and diaphragm its fine. No need to go out and buy a $200 cardiac steth.
Don't worry about scheduling etc too much. Basically everyone is in the same class except informatics which can be taken online.
Everyone should relax and enjoy your break. Nursing school can be serious, but don't take it too seriously.
