University of Florida Accelerated BSN Program Fall 2011

Published

If you're applying to the University of Florida's Fall 2011 accelerated BSN program in Gainesville, this thread's for you! Applicants, current students, and alumni are all welcome to the discussion!

For starters, here is the program's website:

http://www.nursing.ufl.edu/prospective/prospective_accelerated_bsn_home.shtml

or

http://con.ufl.edu/prospective/prosp...bsn_home.shtml

(I am not sure what the difference is, but in case they are on different servers I will post them both. This way you potentially have two servers to use in case one of them is temporarily down.)

Looking forward to meeting more of you on here!

I actually "appropriated" almost everything above from the previous years discussion board. I would at least like to give credit to the original author. The thread last year has been very helpful for me. It contained a lot of quality content and postings. It even included posts from members of the UF College of Nursing administration as well current, former, and prospective students. I hope that this thread will be just as helpful. I look forward to discussing various topics with all of you, such as the inevitable "what is your G.P.A and GRE score." I also hope that one day soon I will be able to meet with all of you face to face as newly admitted students for the Fall 2011 term. Good Luck!!!

In good faith I will say that my undergraduate GPA was very low, around a 2.0, but I earned a 3.5 GPA at FGCU for my MBA in Finance. It was a 4.0 until my final two semesters when I experienced an unfortunate series of losses of friends and loved ones. I have taken a few other courses at the undergraduate level since my bachelors degree and earned either an A or a rare B+. I am currently retaking all of my prerequisites because I took them, originally, over seven years ago. I earned a B+ in Nutrition last semester, and I expect close to straight A's this semester even though I am taking BSC 2085, BSC 2086, MCB 2010, DEP 2004, and STA 2023 all in the same semester. I am also working forty hours per week as a Financial Aid Officer at City College and teaching in the College of Business part time at the same institution. No, I would not recommend this to anyone else or to myself if I could do it over again. I took the GRE at the beginning of this month, but I was not pleased with my results. I scored a 1250, and I plan on retaking it in the beginning of December. I scored a 1380 on the SAT and a 690 on the GMAT. I was very tired, and I think I will do significantly better the next time. As I said before, I look forward to hearing from all of you regarding your backgrounds and any questions you might have.

Nothing in Miami =( Super Nervous....

I got my letter!! :):) I did not get in but I got waitlisted. Call me crazy but I'm still super excited. I still have a chance! I wish there was something I could do to show my determination and passion for becoming a nurse but for now I guess I just have a little longer to wait. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

Go Gators! :)

I got my letter today too, and I am also on the wait list. I agree, I am super happy that I am not denied but at the same time I am sooooooooo nervous!! I couldn't imagine being this close and not getting in...that would be pure torture!! I am hoping that a few other people that were accepted have already accepted a seat somewhere else and those open up to us that are on the wait list:D I am not sure how long we will have to wait to find out, but as long as it's good news, I can stand to wait a little longer!! I am just going to continue saying my prayers!! Good luck everyone, I hope you find out soon!!

Nope...no letter for me today....i cant handle this wait anymore....soooo nervous...

I got my packet today and I got in!!! Woo hoo! GOOD LUCK to all!!!

Is there anyone else in Gainesville that has yet to receive their decision letter? I live two miles down the road from UF so I thought I would have received it by now. I am understandably anxious to learn of my fate and I wanted to check if I was the only one in G-ville who hasn't been notified yet. Hopefully the mail is just a little slow and I will get it tomorrow. Question to UFCON: Assuming the worst has happened, and somehow my letter has been lost in the mail, when would be the soonest that I could just call to check on it? Thank you very much. And Good Luck to those still waiting for an answer!

Give me a call in the office.

Congratulations to all of the candidates accepted into the program, I know you must be very excited!!

I have some information for all of us who are on the wait list and I thought I would post it. The applicants who are offered a seat are to notify the college by May 13th at 5:30 p.m. if they will be attending in the Fall. Once the college has this information, they can determine how many (if any) applicants on the wait list they will offer a seat to. I was told that this may take some time, so we shouldn't expect to hear anything immediately after the 13th. Hopefully we'll know about a week after the May 13th deadline and we will then be contacted by telephone.

I am hoping that some applicants have already accepted a seat at a different school (I don't wish anything bad on anyone) and this will free some seats for the applicants on the wait list;) I know this must be as stressful on you as it is me, but I am thankful that I am in this situation and I still have the possibility of being accepted. There is nothing else we can do at this point, so I am going to try my hardest to have a positive attitude and not worry myself with something that is out of my control.

Congratulations everyone! Still waiting, *crossing

fingers*!

I was not accepted nor waitlisted, BUT I would like to extend my congratulations to those who did get in and wish those on the waitlist the best of look getting in, albeit a little later than expected!

I am going to be retaking my A+P and reapplying to many schools again (some start in Spring '12 so it may not be a huge delay)

Again, congrats everyone!

Thanks so much UCFKnight!! I truly believe things happen for a reason. And, even though it will be a hard pill to swallow, if I don't get in I will know that there is a reason for it!! If I don't get in this time, I will also be retaking some courses to improve my prereq GPA. Once you know this is the career you were chosen for, you won't let a rejection stop you. And, it sounds like we both know this is what we want to do. I wish you the best of luck!!!!!!

I guess it is fitting that since I was the one to start this blog, that I should be the first to deliver this bit of good news. I, David Finch, have officially been accepted to the University of Florida College of Nursing Accelerated BSN program. I look forward to seeing you all this Fall. Congratulations to all of you who shall join me, and don't give up to those of you who have not been accepted this time. It's great to be a Florida Gator!
