University of Florida Accelerated BSN Program Fall 2011
oh and as far as safety goes... all of those places are safe. Try to avoid the sw part of gainesville by tower road and downtown if you are concerned about safety. Otherwise its mostly student. Just keep your car locked at night.. I had to learn that the hard way :/

University of Florida Accelerated BSN Program Fall 2011
I lived in Gainesville place my freshman year, I would describe it as your typical "college apartment". I think mostly undergrad students live there and when I lived there they didnt allow pets. They do have some third story units that have vaulted ceilings and one nice thing is that if you ever have something broken they will send maintanence out to fix it pretty quick. The estates is another typical college place but it is gated and has a really nice pool (they throw a bunch of pool parties throughout the year) I would say as far as noise level it just depends on your roomates. A lot of people "try" to throw parties there but they usually end up getting busted by the cops. Ive heard oakbrook walk is good for grad students and I would guess it would be pretty quiet. If you want to stay on that side of town you may want to look the Polos. Its pretty quiet there and the apartments are nice and have big rooms. They also have two pools, a hot tub and volleyball courts. They allow pets too. The enclaves are really nice too and are more updated than most apartments (they connect to gainesville place). It really just depends on your price range and what part of gainesville you want to live. Living near archer road or off of 35th blvd may be a good bet for you if you want to stay close to the hospitals and such but be prepared for some annoying traffic, they were once talking about lowering the speed limit to 25 for the entire archer road by the university. Im not sure if they still plan to do this but it would cause chaos in my opinion (I think they decided against that though). The student ghetto is behind midtown and downtown where all the bars are located. As far as houses go they are literally everywhere check out watsonrent.com and bosshardtpm.com for those rentals. Hope this helps :)

I'm not sure if we will know by this weekend. Looking at post from last year it seems like it took about a month for them to find out anything. I'm pretty sure we will find out by the 1st of June though :)

Congrats to those who got in! As for those of us on the waitlist.. Im not sure how many people are on the waitlist but I do know they cannot tell us where we stand as far as the order. Also the order is tentative and all of us on the list will be re-evaluated once spots open up after the 13th. Also for some encouragement... Ken did say there has been years where almost everyone on the list got accepted :) Lets hope that this year is one of those years Still soo excited! Good luck to all still waiting on a letter :)

ck32, one thing i can say about uf is that it is diverse! i know people that i am going to school with now from all different backgrounds and educational experiences. also there is no set limit on what scores or grades will get you in. as long as the minimum requirements are met, the application will be considered. also as a word of encouragement to everyone i have two very close friends that just completed the generic bsn program here at uf and graduate tomorrow. they both already have jobs lined up at a local hospital here in gainesville! i am confident that uf's nursing program will prepare us all to finally fulfill our goal of becoming nurses, and for that reason i am stoked to find out :) who knows maybe we will get our letters today

University of Florida Accelerated BSN Program Fall 2011
hello everyone! :) we are so close to getting our letters and i know everyone is just as nervous as i am. honestly just looking at the numbers i'm not the most competitive applicant, i have a 3.2gpa and a 1200gre (580 verbal 620 quantitative) but if anyone out there is in my position we cannot forget where we are applying. i had the opportunity to attend uf as an undergraduate (i graduate this sat woohoo!) and i can tell you from experience that uf looks at the overall applicant. they will take the time to read our personal statements, resumes and letters of recommendations. it is our thoughts, goals, and personal stories that makes us perfect candidates for the program, not just the numbers printed on our transcripts. i hope everyone is thinking positive and i wish you all the best of luck! :)
