Union University CRNA 2020

Updated:   Published

Starting a new thread for those that will be applying to Union University for the Fall 2020 class in Jackson, TN.

I interviewed Tuesday the 14th and got the acceptance phone call today! ? so excited!

Congratulations!Anybody heard any updates about future interviews?

The entire nurse anesthesia faculty are planning to quit effective August 2020. If you love yourself and your future, think twice.

They love what they do but they have been pushed against the wall by "leadership".

Many people apply to Union because of our amazing faculty. I think you all have a right to know.

Have they officially resigned or announced to the current students? It’s interesting they all would be quitting at the same time. What effect do you feel it will have on the program overall? Are they interviewIng new staff?

Yes we had a hour and a half hour meeting regarding the issue two nights ago. We all believe this is due to some contractual changes that will impact their earning potential. They are actively recruiting a new staff but everyone who has been accepted and those still to interview needs to be aware of this fact. There is no guarantee we will have a new faculty by the time school starts.

Well, at least they have till august to recruit and hire new staff. It's disheartening to hear this at this juncture but I already put down my deposit and declined the other school I was accepted into. I've put my chips down on union and I'm hoping for the best.

We are all hoping for the best. In the event teachers are not found, the current students will have to undergo a teach out option through a partner program. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that, but nonetheless everyone should monitor the situation as it unfolds.

Finding all new staff and a director in a few months? That are happy with what the school is offering that’s causing current staff to not renew their contracts? Convincing them to move to........................................Jackson?

I am not quite sure. Maybe they can snag the faculty that quit at LMU. Or the ones that lost their jobs at University of St Francis. I do know other programs aren’t obligated to adopt Union’s students.

Myself and a few others are creating our personal contingency plans. Just thought you all would like to know. We are all adults and should be able to make life changing decisions with all of the facts. Best of luck!

Do you think this would apply to the incoming students though? Hopefully they are able to find faculty, but as you said all we can do is monitor the situation as it unfolds.

No it would not. Our accreditation only runs through 2022. The teach out would be through the Council on accreditation for current students.

Maybe I am not understanding this right but how does it not apply to incoming students? If the program closes, are you saying that the teach out would apply to current AND incoming students? If not, what is happening to incoming student?

Sorry, im a little simple?

I’m a little confused too! Before I pay the deposit I want to be absolutely sure on what’s going on!
