If your uniform gets really, really messed up in clinicals, what do you do?

I only have clinical once a week this Fall and since we have to get the expensive Dove scrubs, I am only buying one set... so I'm wondering...

Are you talking about messed up beyond washing or repairing??? I would think it you are thinking about that you might need to purchase another uniform to be on the safe side. I'm sure after time goes on you will be going to clinicals more often. Don't you think?

I know my school requires that we purchase two tops, two bottoms, and one lab coat. They said all of that is around $150. If it is anymore than that then I am going to scream.. :rotfl:

I have no idea as i'm just starting clinicals this fall as well. I do know that the uniforms are expensive. I'm going to order one set for this semester and then next semester, when clinicals are more often and I don't have as much other stuff to buy(books and supplies), I'll buy another set. That way I'll have an extra set just in case....

actually my school just told us to get one white (the one I'm talking about) for hospital/nursing home, and one navy for community practice.

They are from Dove apparel, I just ordered my (1) white set, with S&H=$118. Maybe I'll just take my 'community' navy set and if I get that bad messed up for some reason hopefully they'll take pity on me and let me put on the wrong color!

My school is going with Dove uniforms and the jacket is $50, the shirt is $45, and the pants are around $35. That comes to $130 for *1* uniform. There's NO way I can afford to purchase two uniforms first semester unless I can get more loan money than what I have at this point. I'm PRAYING that my private loan comes through in time for registration. If it does, I'll buy an extra if there's any money left over after buying my nursing kit and books. Otherwise, I'll have to wait until second semester when I don't have as much to buy....we only have clinicals 1 day a week this first semester anyway so I don't think it'll be a big deal to only have 1 set.

Is that for the 3 pc set? Or just the pants and shirt? I can't believe how expensive these uniforms are!!!!! I hear they're good quality though.

The $118 was pants, top, and v-neck cardigan, which is what they told us to get. I could probably leave out the cardigan and get away with it but I usually tend to get cold in places so I figure I'll need it.

If you are at the hospital and get blood or other bodily fluids on your uniform, they put in hospital scrubs and then you leave you scrubs there and they launder them for you. they do this for infection control at least that is how it is with all the school around here

I know that for first semester we only went to clinical one day a week but second it was 2 days a week and many people had two days back to back so you might need more than one for that simply because of the time factor with washing and drying and also they will not hold up if washed that often

We were require to buy at least one uniform during our first orientation. I did purchase 2 though and I have to go pay the balance. I was thinking about if someone vomitted on me, blood, etc.....heck.....if I vomit on myself....lol...I know that sounds gross, but it could happen... :chuckle . Also on the days when it's snowy, slushy and muddy.... :uhoh21: .....my uniform like many of ours is a pristine white...lol

Wow - I can't believe that as students you have to buy such expensive uniforms!

The school that I hope to go to told me that we can buy our own uniforms. I went out and bought 3 sets "just in case".

My school told us to buy two sets. I still have one set in the original plastic with one year to go!

None of my classmates bring a spare set to clinicals. The one time someone had to change (to go into surgery), the hospital gave her a set.
