Hey guys,
I wanted to start a thread for any students applying to University of North Florida's BSN program Summer 2019. I am currently a student at UNF finishing up my last few pre-reqs for the nursing program. I am super excited and also slightly (actually very) nervous about applying to UNF's program since it is so competitive. I will have a 3.9 GPA if I finish with A's in the two pre-req courses I am taking this semester. I have yet to take the TEAS but have been studying as much as I can through the ATI Testing website and will be taking it in October. Any advice is appreciated, and I hope to hear from any future applicants! :)
@Anatomyofnurisng the interview process is very relaxed! It is so well organized and they really do whatever it takes to make you feel comfortable for the day.
You have plenty of time to meet your group & hang out with current students in the program. You can ask them all of the questions you want & at least for me, they were all very honest & helpful! You also get fitted for your polo during this time.
After a bit, Dr. Dibble and Dr. Loriz talk to you and give you a pep talk. They really kept stressing that this interview was to see who you were, that you’re smart because you got invited so to focus on showing your personality!
Then you’re guided to your interview room. It’s a group of 3-5 of you plus 3 interviewers - usually community nurses/faculty/recent graduates. You sit at a round table and get started on your interview. It’s 4 non-medical questions total + questions afterwards.
My interviewers were amazing and the time you get to talk to your group beforehand is KEY. It really allows you to find the flow of the group so everyone is fairly represented in the interview. I remember during the workshop, they made sure to remind us that we were NOT competing against each other so not to treat it as such. It is much more like a group discussion than it is an interview.
I hope that helped! ?

I’m wondering if it’s just the UNF culture to make you feel like you did really well (because they’re all so nice!). It was 100% different than the other school(s) I’ve interviewed for. If love to hear everyone’s thoughts on the day!!!
Definitely! The interviewers seemed to be fond of our group and we’re very reassuring and responsive to a lot of our answers. I think it really depends on who your interviewers are (I think some may be more reserved which is okay!) but generally they all seem so awesome and welcoming. UNF Nursing definitely has a tight-knit and caring feel to it.
I’m just trying to stay busy until I get the news Monday! And wanting to stay positive no matter what happens as well. Either way it’s a good feeling that it is done and out of my hands now?
@Anatomyofnurisng I thought the workshop was very helpful! They tell you some great tips and relieve stress for the day. Plus they have a bunch of SNA members there that also help out during interview day so it’s nice to see familiar faces!

I still haven’t gotten my email. I’m shaking in my seat!
Thanks!
I really dont don’t understand why I didn’t get in lol, very high GPA, great TEAS, nailed the interview...I didn’t even get waitlisted lol. I’m like, did they get me confused with someone else? I’ve gotten into every other program I applied to, lol.

Hey- anyone who was at the interview today: the last column on the sign-in, next to where you would be living, was for military service, right? Somehow I’m freaking out thinking I wrote “no” for APL when I was writing no for military service. Someone please respond if you remember what I’m talking about! Thank you!
