UNF BSN SUMMER 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey guys,

I wanted to start a thread for any students applying to University of North Florida's BSN program Summer 2019. I am currently a student at UNF finishing up my last few pre-reqs for the nursing program. I am super excited and also slightly (actually very) nervous about applying to UNF's program since it is so competitive. I will have a 3.9 GPA if I finish with A's in the two pre-req courses I am taking this semester. I have yet to take the TEAS but have been studying as much as I can through the ATI Testing website and will be taking it in October. Any advice is appreciated, and I hope to hear from any future applicants! :)

hello!!

I am currently a student at UF and will be graduating in december! i am also super nervous about applying to UNF's program!

i have taken the TEAS once and it honestly was not as bad as i thought. my biggest tip is to take the practice tests that ATI offers. they are exactly like the real exam and it provides great preparation!

i wish you all the best!

Thanks! Good luck to you too! I have been taking the online practice tests for the TEAS almost every day and have the exam scheduled end of October :) glad to hear it's alot like the online versions

Hello!

I'll be also applying for the summer 2019 BSN program. I have been studying using nub ATI TEAS VI study guide book. Does anyone know any websites that offer free practice questions? Let me know! Thank you! And good luck! :)

hello! the ATI resources are the best when it comes to preparing for this exam! however, if you google "free ATI TEAS VI exam questions" you should be able to find a few practice tests that you can take without having to pay! this is what i did and i found a couple that were helpful. but i definitely recommend purchasing the practice exams from ATI (even though they are a bit pricey)!

wish you all the best!

Thank you, Miranda!

Hey guys! I have a question for those that have been accepted in the past. What was the general range of the TEAS score of those who were accepted? I'm thinking of retaking it for Summer 2019 but I'm not sure.

Google "UNF BSN 2018 allnurses" and you'll see a thread where they talk about their test scores.

I attended the "so you want to be a nurse" seminar and Beth Dibble stated that the average science pre-req GPA since 2010 for admitted students is between a 3.67 and a 3.81 and the TEAS score is between a 335-345!

hope this helps!

Thank you! I thought I remembered hearing that sometimes the scores of those accepted are slightly lower than the average which makes sense. If I remember correctly, my TEAS score is 318, and that got me far enough to be waitlisted for Fall 2018, but I was never pulled off of the waitlist. Because of that, I'm trying to figure out if the extra time/money would be worth it to retake it a 3rd time (I also don't have much time left before the deadline to apply.) Apparently there are also significantly less total applicants that apply for Summer cohorts in comparison to Fall.

when I talked to Beth, she said they accept lower and higher scores, those were just the general averages! I know if your GPA is higher then your TEAS could be lower and vice versa.

making the decision to take it again is definitely tough because it is pretty pricey ):

i did not even think about there being less applicants! hopefully that helps because my TEAS score is not very high. I am in the same situation as you in terms of deciding if I should take it again before the deadline. but my science pre-req also is not very high compared to the average so I am quite nervous.

are you applying anywhere else or just UNF??

this is my first time applying to any accelerated programs so it is nice to talk to someone who has been through the process!

I do remember hearing that as well, now that you mention it. It's definitely a tough decision to make one whether or not to retake it but my gpa is 4.0 so I'm hoping that and a great interview score is what can help me out for my lack of a high TEAS score. As for the average pre-req gpa, I'm pretty sure the average range was around 3.7 for those applying? I'm not 100% sure though. It can be pretty difficult trying to take all info into account and to make the right decision for your best chance so I understand how you feel!

I'm only applying to UNF, so I'm hoping this time around it'll work out. Are you applying anywhere else? And are you applying for both the accelerated and regular track? Either way good luck! I know we're all anxious for this next cohort to come around.
