UNF BSN SUMMER 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey guys,

I wanted to start a thread for any students applying to University of North Florida's BSN program Summer 2019. I am currently a student at UNF finishing up my last few pre-reqs for the nursing program. I am super excited and also slightly (actually very) nervous about applying to UNF's program since it is so competitive. I will have a 3.9 GPA if I finish with A's in the two pre-req courses I am taking this semester. I have yet to take the TEAS but have been studying as much as I can through the ATI Testing website and will be taking it in October. Any advice is appreciated, and I hope to hear from any future applicants! :)

I do remember hearing that as well, now that you mention it. It's definitely a tough decision to make one whether or not to retake it but my gpa is 4.0 so I'm hoping that and a great interview score is what can help me out for my lack of a high TEAS score. As for the average pre-req gpa, I'm pretty sure the average range was around 3.7 for those applying? I'm not 100% sure though. It can be pretty difficult trying to take all info into account and to make the right decision for your best chance so I understand how you feel!

I'm only applying to UNF, so I'm hoping this time around it'll work out. Are you applying anywhere else? And are you applying for both the accelerated and regular track? Either way good luck! I know we're all anxious for this next cohort to come around.

wishing you the best of luck! that is a great GPA (cannot get any better haha)

i think having such a high GPA would definitely balance out your TEAS score, especially since your TEAS is not even low! the average, according to Beth, is between a 3.67 and a 3.81!

I am also applying to UF and UCF accelerated programs and if those do not work out for the Summer term, I will be applying for a few traditional programs (SJR State and Santa Fe) that start in the Fall!

That is awesome that you are applying a little bit of everywhere! I can imagine it's hard with all of the paperwork but also gives an even greater chance of acceptance. (Probably a lot smarter than the route I'm taking haha) I wish you the best of luck!

Hello everyone!

I am taking the TEAS test for the first time next week. I am so nervous but have just started doing the free online practice test. I am definitely behind on studying for it but have been busy finishing up pre-reqs this semester. Anyone have an tips they don't mind sharing?

Thank you and good luck to everyone!

Hey!!

I was SO SO SO nervous before I took the TEAS my first time so i know exactly how you are feeling but I promise you that it is not bad at all!

definitely take all the free practice tests that are available online just to get a sense of the questions that are going to be asked!

don't stress yourself out though. it is timed, but you can go at your own pace and finish on your own time (as long as you don't exceed the time limit given, which you shouldn't!)

if you wanted to pay for any study materials, I would recommend any of the ATI products since they are the ones that make the test, but those can be a little expensive. i think, though, that since you just finished up some prereqs (depending on what they were) you should be good with the information being so fresh in your mind!

also, remember that you still have time before the application is due to take it again if you aren't satisfied with your first score. i know that retaking it is not ideal but it is an option!

i wish you all the best of luck and i truly believe you will do great (:

hey guys!!

would everyone possibly want to share their science prereq GPA and TEAS score for the upcoming cohort?! if not i completely understand! it is nice to see where everyone is at!

wishing everyone the best of luck and happy holidays (:

Hello everyone, I have 7 of my prerequisites completed and I was so devastated when I got a B in A&P 2 and I also got a B in A&P 1. Now my prerequisite GPA is a 3.71 and I am so nervous that is too low. I took TEAS in the summer and I got a 330 but competitive is 335-345 so im planning to take it again in early January. Any advice? Thank you!

I think your GPA is completely fine.. I would not be worried about that at all since you are within the average that is accepted and actually at the higher end.

Your TEAS really is not that low and your GPA will definitely help.

If you do retake it, I suggest taking all the free practice tests that you can just to get familiar with different material. If you want to spend money on study materials, I would definitely recommend buying ATI products since they are the ones that make the test.

good luck!

The deadline for the Summer 2019 cohort is today! I don’t know about you, but I’m honestly a little anxious and ready to hear some answers soon! How does everyone feel?

One thing I did notice is there are less applicants for the Summer term in comparison to Fall. I wonder how much that can change our chances? (I applied for Fall 2018 but was placed on the waitlist.)

Best of luck to you all!

I am SO SO SO nervous. My TEAS and GPA are not the best and that scares me so much. I hate that the first round picks are based solely on scores and prereq grades ? i am also very ready for some answers!

in Beth's email, she said there were 385 applicants (at that time) which seems like a lot since they only interview 160 (or something close to that)?!

would you mind sharing your stats when you applied for Fall 2018?? wishing you the best of luck!

My overall GPA: 3.63

Prereq GPA: 3.92

TEAS Score: 346.4

Aren’t there only like 26 seats in the summer cohort? I wonder how many applied to the 2nd Degree vs RPL?

On the UNF website, it says that there are 36 seats for both the Summer and Fall cohorts for the ABSN program!

wish you the best of luck! it looks like you have a solid chance at getting in!
