UNC Chapel Hill ABSN - Summer 2022

Hey everyone,

I'm planning on applying to UNC Chapel Hill's ABSN next month in the hopes of getting accepted into the Summer 2022 cohort. Didn't see a thread for 2022 so I figured I'd start one. Good luck to everyone applying this year! Also, if you're currently in the program or have previously completed it, please feel free to add your experience, share your thoughts, etc.

Hey @islandbabe, 

Thanks for starting the thread for 2022. I plan to apply later this month; I am currently taking Statistisitcs and would be done by mid-July. I got held up at work yesterday, so I missed the information session. Were you able to attend the information session?

@EllaGyasi I attended an information session a couple of months ago. Honestly, it mostly covered information that's already on the website. They mentioned that they typically receive about 269 applicants and admit 104 each year. A lot of time was spent going over the requirements (prerequisites, minimum GPA's, etc). They stressed that they do a holistic review for all applications.

I submitted my NursingCAS application on the 1st and just submitted my supplemental application yesterday. I'm kind of wishing I didn't do it so early because that just means more time for me to sit here anxiously awaiting a decision which won't be until October.

@islandbabe Thanks for letting me know; I wasn't sure if they covered new information in the information sessions. I'm glad they do a holistic review for all applicants. I think I've read everything on their website regarding ABSN over 50 times, LOL.

Congrats on submitting both applications. I totally get what you are saying, but I am anxious, and I am yet to submit my NursingCAS application.  UNC Chapel is my first choice, so I'm very anxious about the whole process. Good luck to you! ?

Hey guys! I just finished the nursing CAS application and am SO nervous. I feel like so many more people will be applying with Covid... Anyone know how other ABSN programs have been affected? Best of luck to everyone!!

I don't know how other ABSN programs have been affected, but I think they will get more applicants this year. I'm also very nervous, and October can't come soon enough. Now, the waiting game begins! Good luck to you!

Hey guys, what are your stats? I have a 3.02 GPA, 4.0 Pre-req GPA, 1-year patient care experience, and non-healthcare volunteer experience. I have no idea where people might stand this year!

Hi everyone! 
 

I applied back in August, I’m nervous because it was my #1 choice but I was accepted from two other programs and waitlisted from 1. I know that I have options but considering how badly I wanted to get into this program if I get denied I’d be so sad LOL. Like I said luckily I have great options and I’m grateful for that but I hopefully I’m not disappointed!

Hi everyone! it seems like from the past cohorts they got their decision through email on October 13th. So I am hoping our decisions will come around then too! I am super super nervous because this is the only program I applied to and I already work at UNC hospital. Goodluck to everyone next week, fingers crossed!!
