UNC BSN 2015

Published

Hi all, I just submitted my UNC BSN application for the Summer 2015 program and I wanted to start this thread. I'm super anxious about waiting for the decision especially since there are so many that typically apply. Anyone else applying? Are there any current UNC students that have some insight about the program or admissions?

Thanks!!

Yea i got into Duke which i'm really excited about.. i just wonder what UNC thought was wrong with my application.

FYI just called UNC and they said they had a lot of second degree students who applied. So to make a cut they ended up cutting those who had pre-req courses in progress. Just a heads up.

You know if I would have known going in then I would have saved my money and applied at a later date. I really do hope that's not the case because that's ridiculous to me. I'm one course away from finishing my pre reqs.

I know how you feel, i'm finishing my last one now. She said it was the quickest way to cut the group because so many applied. Incredibly frustrating though.

Really sad news :( I am taking my last 2 prereqs now so I'm no longer excited for the mail to come...

Looked in the mail. Nothing. Stategrl, sorry you didn't get in to UNC, but Duke has a great program also. Best of luck to you! When do you matriculate?

Thanks, I'll start in August and finish next December I believe.

Yea it's pretty frustrating. She said during final rounds they had so many and it was the most objective way to cut a good portion.

I've been lurking on this thread for a while, but thought I would post to confirm what stategrl said. I was also rejected and called to learn it was because I am a 2nd degree and currently taking microbiology. I think I had read in another thread that they had to use 2nd degrees with classes in progress as a cut in previous years too. I'm disappointed but I understand that they only have 104 spaces so they have to be able to differentiate people somehow. I am going to apply to the absn program this summer and also work on an application to ECU and NC Central. I'd prefer an accelerated program anyway. Good luck everyone.

Thanks for the confirmation smith_c123. Definitely not great news but it is what it is. I'm sure we'll all figure it out one way or another!

I just got my rejection letter today. I had A&P II in progress when I applied. I am a second degree student. I am very heartbroken over this because if I had known that was the case I would have really pushed myself to have done the A&P sooner. It has really thrown me off. I had a lot of clinical hours as well as volunteer hours. I had a 3.9 GPA on my pre-requisites and an overall 3.7 GPA. I am sorry to say this but I am really torn apart.

I still haven't gotten a letter yet which worries me. But I did get an e-mail about the Hillman Scholars program; I checked the site though and it says all applicants to the ABSN or BSN programs are eligible to apply, so it's probably just a generic e-mail.
