UNC BSN 2015

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hi all, I just submitted my UNC BSN application for the Summer 2015 program and I wanted to start this thread. I'm super anxious about waiting for the decision especially since there are so many that typically apply. Anyone else applying? Are there any current UNC students that have some insight about the program or admissions?

Thanks!!

I applied to and am hoping for the best.

Great! I'm sure as March gets closer we'll have a bit more activity on this thread. Best of luck!

Good luck all!

Hi there, I'm in the process of submitting applications for financial aid for UNC and I was a little confused if i was eligible for the CSS application since i'm a second degree student. I reached out to UNC and apparently second degree students are only eligible for loans so don't need to fill out the CSS application (for scholarships). Just wanted to share this information since you all might be wondering the same.

Don't know about you but i'm getting anxious to hear!!

Hey all. I applied for the summer BSN program as well as a Second Degree student. I'm hoping that because I have a MPH that that will increase my chances of getting in. As shameless as this sounds, I hope that because I'm a male that that will help as well. Good luck to all of you and hopefully I will be seeing you guys in May.

Wow, a lot of second degree students apply to the BSN option. I feel intimidated because I've only completed two years of undergrad up until now. The grand reveal is soon, I think we'll all find out in two weeks or so. Good luck everyone!

How do you know that if you don't mind me asking?

I'm applying from out of state but I've read the UNC BSN threads from past years and the majority of those people were second degree students applying, so I guess I just assumed. Or is it about finding out the decisions soon? Because I think it's the first or second week of March.

To be honest, I don't think that it will have that much of an impact. If a person with two years under the belt has a higher GPA and possibly more experience, then I think they will go in that direction. Also, this is the only time a person who hasn't finished college yet can apply to the school while a second degree student also has the ABSN option, so they will probably cater more towards students still in undergrad. With my masters degree, I could have done the ABSN option, but I don't want to rush nursing school and would also like to have some balance in my life, so I picked the two year option. Keeping my fingers crossed. Also, I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard they really do like out of state students because they want that out of state money, so that could definitely work out in your favor.

Yeah I just checked the previous forums and it looks like they do prefer first degree students for the 24 month program. I'm getting nervous now. Again, I'm hoping that because I'm a male and have a masters that those play to my advantage. I counted yesterday, out of the 114 kids they let in last year, only 12 were men. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I started the ABSN program in January. I know how nerve wracking it is waiting to hear! Just wanted to drop by and wish everyone good luck!
