Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.
I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.
My congratulations to you bcandygurl! It must be a nice feeling to know you made it in!
amandac21 yes! Mine changed yesterday when I checked in the evening, so there's no doubt your status (and vigor145's status) will change very soon!
Overall, I have a feeling they will start letting us know the very beginning of November. Just a hunch though, so don't absolutely take my word for it! The woman from admissions did say mid-November after all...
Vigor, don't worry! In the past, some people's status remained "complete-ready for review" right up until the day they got accepted!
Congrats bcandygurl! I expect we'll start seeing the decisions for military candiates within the next week or so. And then the rest of us.
I got into Towson, which totally took all the pressure off! Sure, I'd love to go to UMSON, but it's not likely I'll get in, so I've stopped thinking much about it. Knowing that I WILL be starting nursing school in January has me thinking about what I have to do to prepare. And things like health insurance and financial aid. "Lucky" for me, I have other things to take my mind off this, like planning my sister's baby shower, finding an orthodontist for my daughter, and my current classes, which are kicking my behind with the workload! So, if you fill your life with a whole lot of stress, like I did, you'll get distracted from the waiting game. (I'm being facetious here, folks. That's not actual advice!)
Congrats afowler77!!! I honestly feel that the level of difficulty to get into Towson is about the same as UMSON. If anything, UMSON may have more applicants, but Towson' s application seemed to require so much more.

@afowler - CONGRATS!!!! That's exciting for you. I was hoping we'd end up together at UofMSON. We had some similarities. From one of your previous posts, I noticed we are the same age, while I do not have kids, my husband and I do have guardianship of my nephew, I work full time.......etc........anyway, I know I will meet some other dynamic people at UofMSON. Good Luck at Towson.
Hi vigor! I'm not picking on you, I promise! I just didn't want you to fret, in case it takes a while to change. I saw it happen last time. A few people thought they'd been overlooked completely. But hopefully you'll get an acceptance!
Being in school when you're raising children is HARD! It's like being Wonder Woman, right? :-)
Who knows, maybe we will be classmates. I haven't given up hope, but...I think I've just re-focused my stress onto other things. Once all of us end up in school, we should still keep in touch! We'll all be peers, cohorts, resources, future coworkers, and buddies to comiserate with.

Thanks for the answer bcandygurl! There probably is less to review for the RN-BSN folks, since they already have proof you've been successful in nursing school and can handle the workload. Really, even us traditional folks have no longer than a month to wait, most likely!
