Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.

I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.

Okay! I just called Admissions again. The decisions will be given out mid-November instead of mid-October. (Yet another month to wait!)

Also, those of you who are also applying to Towson can turn in your enrollment fee for their nursing program ($200.00) to save your seat, just in case. In the event that you make it into UMSON, you can give up your seat, but the fee is nonrefundable. Make sure the postmark is before the two-week period after receiving the acceptance in the mail.

I read the post on the other thread before this one lol. You think Towson will hold the seat that long? I hope so! This is what I was worried would happen...

I'm sure they will, as long as you pay the fee! And I was worried too, so I decided to call. The good thing is, if you give up your seat, they'll be offering it to someone else who will really want it. :)

(Haha for a moment there, I didn't know which thread I was on!)

Yes! Would be awesome to meet :D And much luck to you, too! Can't believe we have another month to wait though... Wonder why I was told mid-October ahah. Anyway, let's keep each other posted :)

My status is still complete ready for review. :( Whyyy

Mine too - don't worry. UMD has 2 campuses and a million programs when you include grad students. Plus, the faculty who have to read and evaluate the apps all have their day jobs as well, so I can understand why it takes a while. Bummed that we won't know this month though! :(

Yes...let's not worry!! :( but I'm worrying...haha

Ugh! I was hoping for October. I applied to Marymount in Virgina and they will let me know mid-October. Hopefully it will all work out!

gah! my status has changed to "committee ready." @___@ !!! thank you all for such helpful information. i really hope i enter this school with all of you. you all are very gracious and i would be so honored to be part of this school with such wonderful future nurses! :)

It's always like this! There are always amazing people on UMSON forums! I'd be honored to be class mates with any one of you!:)

happymochi what I'm thinking happened then was probably they thought they'd get through the sorting process early, not knowing it'd be longer than they thought!

And gummycoco, I haven't gotten my Committee Ready either, but usedtobecool is right. It's just too much to go through for them! It is a bummer that it won't be this month after all, though. This is so suspenseful! Haha!

katiep_123 see if Marymount will do the same that Towson does! Hopefully they do, so you can secure a spot while still waiting for UMSON!

When we look at TEAS scores, we look at all of them and compare to the national average for each section which is usually around 70. Any score SIGNIFICANTLY below the national average is cause for concern but, again, we look at everything.

Honestly, going from "complete, ready for review" to "committee ready" doesn't change anything on our end, nor does it change the end date or end result of finding out. I don't check it anymore. My ducks are in a row, so I can coast to a decision. I'm not even thinking about it!
