Hello, all!
My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!
I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:
A: A&P 1
A: A&P 2
B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)
I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)
I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.
I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!
The hospital that I work with accommodates UMSON BSN students for their clinicals. As an RN II, I get the chance to mentor them. Yesterday student mentioned how stressed they are and basically have no life but school. One delayed her wedding, one did not celebrate her birthday and one placed her kids at day care. I have been to MoCo Nursing school and I can attest that yes! Nsg school is no joke! I see it in their eyes, the enthusiasm to learn but there bodies say otherwise lol. To those who get in or will get in. Enjoy the remaining days of your fun social life :-) Enjoy this moment of waiting, this moment of stillness and peace and calm. The acceptance letter sounds promising but it is the beginning of the end. Be warned
Good luck all :-)
A very good friend of mine was accepted spring 2015. When I asked her about it (about her social life, work load, etc.) She said something along these lines:
"When I got accepted, so many people kept telling me 'Say goodbye to your social life' and 'These will be the worst two years of your life' but honestly, the work load is heavy and it is stressful, but is is doable and I actually enjoy it"
I am not going (If I am going, of course) into this thinking great...here comes hell. Yes I am sure there will be MANY MANY tears, all-nighters, etc. But I am just excited for this ne2 adventures! Nothing good ever comes easy!
Once you start working, this profession is REWARDING by nature. I enjoyed my clinicals a lot, I hate the exams though. Then after graduation, Nclex is a whole different story
"Keep pushing forward" That was our group's motto. Funny because some of my group members are working in the same hospital. We never lost contact. We never forget.
I am excited for all of you. Now I realize I might be in the wrong forum. Once again, Goodluck!
