UMSON Fall 2015

Published

REMINDER!!! The deadline to submit your Fall application is nearing. As of now, the deadline has not changed from February 2 (short of 4 weeks away).

This is my second time applying--I was wait listed for the Spring term. Currently, I am studying to take my TEAS exam again on January 27th. This exam was the only portion of my application I was not confident in. I scored a 70% without refreshing my memory on key concepts by studying before hand. I did find the test to be a "you either no it or you don't" kind of thing so from personal experience--STUDY!

I have no outstanding prerequisites and my sciences are as follows:

AP1. -- B

AP2. -- A

CHEM -- B

MICRO -- A

I had the privilege of chatting with the last group of students and found this forum to be quite helpful! Please use this post as a way of communicating, sharing experiences, and giving advice. Hopefully, we will be classmates in the Fall!:)

So many people on this forum got waitlisted. And a few even got rejected. I'm soooo nervous. Still committee ready.

i was also just wait listed. does anyone know how many people typically get pulled from the waitlist?

The number of people who will be pulled from the wait list is the number of accepted students who turn down the offer of admission. We cannot predict how many that will be or when each will decline our offer and it is different every semester. I can tell you that every semester we have taken people off the wait list at both campuses. If you made it to the wait list, you are a qualified applicant who would have been offered a seat if we had enough places for all qualified candidates. Even though I am sure you would rather not be wait listed, I think you should be proud of that status. I am really sorry I can't give you anything more specific.

Keep in mind, the reason there are so many on the waitlist because the BSN Program and receive upwards to 500 applications (and sometime 100s more than that!) for the fall cycle for only 130 spots total. It would be in everyone's best interest to not put all your eggs in UMSON's basket, because statistically you have a higher chance at being waitlisted or rejected than getting in. Even though UMSON is my first choice, to maintain my sanity I applied to other schools.

Also, the riots caused a major disruption for the school, so last year some people didn't hear anything until mid-May, but you may have to wait a bit longer because the staff needs to be kept safe.

Thank you Grey Lady. Your words of encouragement mean a lot to me.

Anyone else still committee ready for the bsn program? Ugh I thought today would be the day but still nothing. I wonder if they're still giving out decisions or not?

I'm still committee ready.

Grey Lady,

I believe I read previous posts where you were making aceptance calls for Shady Grove campus, are you still doing make those calls this week and next?

Does this mean I'm committee ready my application type says complete ready for review and right underneath it says decision committee ready? I still haven't heard anything. Anyone else on the same boat?

I am one of the wait list. It is a tough time. Waiting can easily torture your mind. And u get nothing to do but nervous. I give all my stress to God. I pray for my future professors, my classmates, and my first time in hospital. Whatever the result is, I have to step forward. Do some preps. Relaxing, taking vacation, otherwise you don't know if u have time in nursing school. Reviewing A&P, learning Med term, taking First aid and CPR, reading some book about principle of nursing, I think they can make the first easier.

Cheer up! 😆 guys. We should move forward. If u can not handlr it, let God handle it

Guys does this mean I'm committee ready? Next to application type is says complete ready for review and next to

decision it says committee ready.

I have been accepted to the BSN program in Baltimore and just received my letter in the mail yesterday. It stated that I need to take Intro to Sociology before orientation. Does anyone know if I can take another sociology course online? Its called Deviant Behavior Sociology so its not an intro class.

I'm sure it has to be Intro to Sociology. I don't think they would accept Deviant Behaivior since it's not an introductory class but a class focusing on a specific sociological topic!
