UMSON Fall 2015

Published

REMINDER!!! The deadline to submit your Fall application is nearing. As of now, the deadline has not changed from February 2 (short of 4 weeks away).

This is my second time applying--I was wait listed for the Spring term. Currently, I am studying to take my TEAS exam again on January 27th. This exam was the only portion of my application I was not confident in. I scored a 70% without refreshing my memory on key concepts by studying before hand. I did find the test to be a "you either no it or you don't" kind of thing so from personal experience--STUDY!

I have no outstanding prerequisites and my sciences are as follows:

AP1. -- B

AP2. -- A

CHEM -- B

MICRO -- A

I had the privilege of chatting with the last group of students and found this forum to be quite helpful! Please use this post as a way of communicating, sharing experiences, and giving advice. Hopefully, we will be classmates in the Fall!:)

Hi, Everyone:

I was accepted for the spring 2015 around beginning of Dec. After waiting for a long time, after almost everyone got accepted and waitlisted my status changed to waitlist. Then after like 10 days, I was pulled of the waitlist and was accepted. I know atleast around 6 people who was picked of the waitlist for SG. So keep your hopes up and good luck. Since some of you guys still have to take classes over the summer, yours might be a little different from us. And I have heard some of the accepted students might have a change of heart during the summer ...so more spaces may open up.

It can take a while to get "The Call." Last fall, others began receiving notifications, be it accepted, rejected, or waitlisted. A week into it, I still had heard noting. I think it took at least a week and a half or maybe even longer than two weeks for my notification.

I was driving in the car with my kids, and it was early evening, long past when I thought anyone would be in the office. The phone rang, and it was a Baltimore number. I figured it was a solicitation or something along those lines. I actually said to my daughters, "It's a Baltimore number, but there's no way it's Maryland calling." (I had JUST checked my status online.) But then I decided to check my status and the voicemail. Boy, was I wrong! I was a full "admit institution" because I had already successfully completed my prerequisite classes.

A longer wait prior to receiving a response is not a negative indicator. You could still get the news you want two weeks from now!

Any Shady Grove traditional BSN admits- please feel free to contact me or littlemango. We had (and have) some great mentors and we would love to do the same for you. Littlemango and I make a great team, and we love to help!

I just want to know either way! By May 1st hopefully! That's the magical deposit day for my other school!

Haha yes, afowler77 and I are great buddies and will help you guys out! We're planning on being there at orientation for you all, and we're very eager to answer all of your questions.

Love that katiep_123! "Magical deposit day" haha!

Katiep_123- my call from UMSON came about 2 days before my deposit was due at Towson! I still lost out on my deposit to TU's nursing program, but at least I was spared paying the University deposit.

Yes! Also, paying the initial TU deposit gave us some security in case we didn't get into UMSON.

So which campus did you all apply for? And why? What made you to look into nursing?

(Don't think of this as another set of 200-word essay questions. Yikes! I just want to get to know you all. :))

I GOT IN!!!! Decision Made - Provisional Admit !!!

...sorry just so excited right now

Congrats to everyone that got in and sincerely wish the best of luck to those waitlisted/still waiting!
