REMINDER!!! The deadline to submit your Fall application is nearing. As of now, the deadline has not changed from February 2 (short of 4 weeks away).
This is my second time applying--I was wait listed for the Spring term. Currently, I am studying to take my TEAS exam again on January 27th. This exam was the only portion of my application I was not confident in. I scored a 70% without refreshing my memory on key concepts by studying before hand. I did find the test to be a "you either no it or you don't" kind of thing so from personal experience--STUDY!
I have no outstanding prerequisites and my sciences are as follows:
AP1. -- B
AP2. -- A
CHEM -- B
MICRO -- A
I had the privilege of chatting with the last group of students and found this forum to be quite helpful! Please use this post as a way of communicating, sharing experiences, and giving advice. Hopefully, we will be classmates in the Fall!:)
to aspiringnurssedd, my professor was willing to send another recommendation, and i notify the admissions office that he would send another LOR. they received and accepted it, and now my application is complete and ready for review.did everything work out for you?
well, no. i had my professors re-email them and i called the office today-- said they were not received, and it is likely my application will no longer be considered by the admissions committee. i have called and emailed since feb 2nd but it looks like for some reason, they are not getting my rec letters. i am going to try one last time to make sure they received the rec letters and i am praying the committee will still accept my application and consider it. the woman i spoke with said they have already been reviewing applications...so i don't know. i am not sure what happened because i know my professors mailed them. i even wrote the envelope for one of them so i know it was address correctly. i was told i left too much time between submitting the app and having them mail the letters (they did in nov or dec, i believe, and i did the app feb 1). however, i called the office back in december and informed them of this but was assured all supp. materials received before the deadline would be placed in a misc. folder, then matched to the application. so yea. not looking good now so i'm gonna pray and do all i can, then leave it alone. on the bright side, i do have one acceptance already so if umson doesn't work out, i will go there. i'm a bit heartbroken, though.
i hope the very best for you all :)

Girl please, you can't give up that easily!! Look, if I was in your shoes I would either go to the professor in person and collect the letter or have him email me a scanned copy of the signed letter. After that i would personally DRIVE to UMSON and hand-in the letter! I see that you live in Maryland and not in California so this can be done, its a matter of making time to make it happen. UMD is the school for me and I would give anything to go there (even though I've already been accepted into another CNL program)! So because of that I would do whatever I had to do to make sure that I was given full consideration for a spot. There's no need in you counting yourself out all because of a stupid letter, especially if you meet the qualifications! My advice may seem extreme for some, but I'm not one to allow a sheet of paper to block my destiny or hinder a great opportunity...let the church same Amen!

Haha thanks for the encouragement. I got the email of someone other than the generic umson admissions email and emailed that both professors resent the rec letters via email last week, per my request...and i had copies of the emails with the rec letters to show for it. I emailed this person and they finally updated my application as complete, thank God. When I called before, I was told "Well, if SURFS is not updated, it means we did not get it." But they updated it AFTER I emailed them and even put in the retroactive dates on which they were received (Feb 20th, Feb 27th)....
Now I have to see if I'll even make it to "Committee Ready." I am hoping they will let me know if the committee rejected my application due to all of this. I don't even know how to go about that because I was told that applicants weren't allowed to contact the committee. I am definitely frustrated and I didn't do too well with being told this was basically my fault for leaving so much time between the rec letters being sent and the application being submitted online. In the future, I'll either have things sent by certified mail or emailed with a receipt to avoid this. Everything else was in on time with no issue, and I am sure the didn't read through all 500 or whatever applications yet, so I have hope.
Thanks for listening yall. :)
Aspiringnursedd,
Here's one helpful tool I learned in the military: paper trail. If you speak with someone kindly ask their name and make note of it. Following the end of your phone call, send a follow-up email. Emails protect both parties involved as they are time stamped. However, I've been in your shoes and it was not an error on UNSIB's part but my previous school with sending my transcript. Fortunate for me, I prioritize and organize emails for future references. Nonetheless, I'm sure you'll be fine if the documents were received. Good luck !!!!

You're absolutely correct and that is great advice that i will use. I'm pretty sure I am ok now b/c everything is in, but I'll feel fully safe once my status switches to committee ready lol.
I figure they'll let me know if the materials were received too late to be considered for this cycle, but i received two emails from one of the associate directors stating my application was complete. I guess if I were in danger of not being considered, she would have let me know.
I'm very organized and meticulous, so I'm hoping this won't negatively sway an admissions decision. This is my top choice so we'll see :)
What is UNSIB?

I know right!! They all seem like they got really good scores on their TEAS...but I suck at taking tests, no matter how much I study. My GPA is okay, but I'm still nervous.
