Hello all, I am planning to apply to UMSON in the fall 2016. I haven't seen a thread yet for other hopefuls and potential candidates. So I wanted to start one.
Sorry, joining the thread a little late here! New to allnurses.
I just recently took my TEAS V, and my score was okay. Was hoping to do better, so maybe I will end up re-taking it.
TEAS V score was 73%
My GPA is currently 3.17
Just wanted some input on what you guys think! Should I just go ahead and apply to UMSON with what I have?
It's scary reading how good some of the GPA and TEAS V scores are and yet, those people are still getting waitlisted.

Which semester are you applying for? Cause the deadline has already passed for fall 2016 applications. If you're applying for spring, you can take the teas a second time after you study a bit more, maybe?
I'm hoping to apply for spring 2017. I'm also applying for the ADN program at my community college, but I'd really like to go for my BSN.But I'll definitely retake my TEAS V before applying to UMSON. I just hope that's enough. GPA isn't the greatest.
Ah, I'm in the same boat! I've applied to my community college ADN program, but I would really like to go for my bsn at UMSON as well! They look at everything, not just your grades, so get those essays and recommendation letters to be the best you can, and maybe look into some volunteer stuff in a clinical/hospital setting. I took the teas 2x and still got the same score lol, despite all the studying I did.
I hope you get in! Yeah, the TEAS is kind of bizarre, especially the science portion! I was so worried about my score, but I talked with someone who works in the health science department at my community college, and she told me I'd be fine with what I received (maybe not for UMSON, but it's a start). If you don't mind me asking, what community college do you go to?? I go to Anne Arundel, and the program doesn't really seem that competitive. If you meet their requirements, you're basically in once there's a slot open.

I go to Montgomery college! Their nursing program is alright, it's getting better now that they made partnership with UMSON for their rn-bsn program, but I would still love to go straight for my bsn instead.
Hey everybody,
I was wondering what my odds were with 3.4 gpa and 4.0 science gpa (haven't taken either A&P) and a 84.7% on my TEAS. I'm looking at the Shady Grove campus because it's such an easy commute for me. My recommendations were from the biology chairman and another biology professor so I think my application is solid.

A&P is a pretty important (probably most important) part of the prerequisite education, so I think it might be hard to make a judgment about how you'll do in nursing school without knowing how you handle those classes. I'm guessing you'll be applying for Spring 2017 since you haven't taken either class?

Was the class you failed a prereq?
