I also got an email for an interview as well! Good luck to all! I should note - this was a repeat application for me (I was previously out of state and newly graduated), and since the first round of applying I've gained other pediatric nursing (non-hospital) experience. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't work out this round!

I think the Nursify verification only took a couple of days! Haven't heard anything yet either ?

I can’t quite remember all the steps, but I think getting set up on Nursify was one of the first steps? I would recommend doing that sooner rather than later.

I transferred my license to WA back in Feb and it took about 2.5 weeks.

The timeline of this application window closing just before the holiday might make the turnaround on interview notifications a little bit shorter...best of luck to all!

Congrats on the interviews! Hoping I still hear something...what units were you notified about?

At the April 22 open house they said the critical care shadow day would be May 30, and interviews May 31. I applied initially last November and did not hear anything at all for the March 2019 cohort - so no follow-up if you don't get an interview. I remember the program saying by email (and I think it's on the site too) that they try to notify their interview pool at least two weeks in advance of the interview. Best of luck to everyone!

I didn't end up hearing anything either. Since they specified the Dec 19 date I sort of would be surprised if it suddenly moved to January, but who knows!

I am in my fourth semester of the CNL program after starting in fall 2016, and will be graduating in December of 2018 (I am on an extended plan, but started the program full-time). Feel free to ask any questions that you might have! (Also, the admissions office isn't super great at responding to students in a timely manner - in regards to the STEP orientations). :)

Hi IDon'tWanna - It's going to be different for everyone renting vs. buying. I bought some of the guides (diagnosis book (I would say is a good buy) and medication book, CNL book, etc. because those will be used throughout your schooling), but I rented most of the other books and have not had an issue (there may be online resources I'm missing by not buying, but it hasn't made a huge difference for me personally). At SSIP there should be some students coming to talk to you all who can give you some good advice on books (I know they are quite expensive!). I don't know too much about this, but I was told by other students that the bookstore will match prices you find elsewhere (a new thing), so keep that in mind :) Another thing I've found is the website Evolve sometimes has free resources for our books (practice questions and study guides), so that is a good resource to check out. We actually are just getting into our first weeks of clinical (there are only 4 days your first semester - 1 of which is a simulation day on campus). You don't have a choice where you are placed first semester - you are usually with your lab group, but they try to keep it in the Baltimore metro area. It looks like most of our placements for these first clinicals are at long-term care facilities.

Hi Betibee3 - I'm not exactly sure how it looks for Spring, but those who are part time starting in the Fall are adding an extra summer and semester. Since Spring students already have two summers, you may be adding 2 extra semesters past the summers, but I'm not exactly sure. My impression is that they will work with you on what your scheduling needs are, making sure you complete classes that are required to get into clinicals on time. And just from what I know from some starting out part time - they're taking 503 (Health Assessment) and 505 (Fundamentals) in the first semester, and then will take 501 (Pathophysiology) and 507 (Intro to Nursing and CNL Role) their second semester (but not in a summer semester because they are not offered). I thought I'd come check in on this forum - this was me not too long ago! Congrats to all who are accepted! I'm currently in the middle of the first semester of the CNL program. It is a lot of work, but I'm definitely enjoying it so far. Best of luck to all!

I've lived in the city for the past couple of years, and can give neighborhood recommendations if needed! Some of the major neighborhoods around the downtown area also have UM shuttles that travel through them to campus, so that makes it more convenient (Federal Hill, Fells Point/Canton - new route, Mount Vernon, and Midtown). Fayette square is definitely convenient because it's so close to campus buildings...I don't know much about the details of living there though. Good luck on your search!
