UMSON CNL Spring 2020 ?

I tried to search for that group on Facebook and nothing came up. Do you have anyone else on the group?

I do! Here's a direct link ? https://www.facebook.com/groups/480078552843681/

Received an email that I have been accepted this morning! So excited and happy about the quick turn around. I interviewed 10 days ago and it's been so hard not knowing.

hey...I'm current student in the program [started this fall] - if you have any questions - feel free to ask me

@nursedooode

Hey. So I'll start off by asking, how you like the program so far? I got into John's Hopkins entry into nursing and UMSON program. Currently I am trying to choose between the two so any information/suggestions that can help me make this decision are welcome. Thank you!

Hey Ryan my coworker who did Hopkins program told me not to go there. She said their program isn’t that great and it’s fairly new so they are still developing. She said if she could do it all over again she would’ve chosen UMSON. Congrats on getting into both programs. I’m sure you’ll make the right choice that suits you best!

@Ryan I was accepted to Johns Hopkins also. What made me pick Maryland over Johns Hopkins was simple: Maryland is significantly less expensive and the Maryland program offers the ability to get the CNL certification. Those 2 combined made the decision easy for me.

Really??? I'm shocked, you'd think Hopkins would be the end all be all! I was waitlisted for their MSN program but I'm glad I took UMSON's offer. I agree that its definitely cheaper and the CNL specialty appealed to me

@Ryan Just throwing this out there because this is all I know about the Hopkins program ... I recently looked at the 2018 NCLEX pass rates for schools in Maryland. As for direct entry MSN programs, Hopkins has a higher pass rate than UMSON. 94% vs 87%. However, the CNL certification alone makes up for that 7%.

@nursedooode For sure. I am definitely leaning towards UMSON over Hopkins. I feel like part of what you're paying for is the Hopkins brand and that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it is just a fact. Regardless I think the education received at either school will be great.

How is your experience at UMSON so far? Do you like it? Any pros and cons other then the CNL and expense which are the main factors that are making be lean towards UMSON over Hopkins.

@BlessNgo Funny thing is my wife is currently at Hopkins for their entry into nursing MSN program. She just started this fall and hasn't developed a strong opinion yet. She does love her professors but she thinks the program lacks structure in some ways which aligns with what your friend said about her experience at Hopkins.

@betsyyb It is ranked #1 in the nation for MSN programs. And once again, the brand name carries weight everywhere. That alone makes it a hard thing to turn down. Regardless, I think UMSON is on the same level. It is great program but it doesn't have the same notoriety nation wide. I'm not sure whether that will matter after your first real job though.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

For those who accepted, what was the last message you received in your decision history before getting the acceptance message? My file is now saying complete and the decision history link is no longer there. I completed the interview recently.

I meant for those who have been accepted!
