I am happy for your decision, but can you clarify in what way the BSN provides more options over the CNL? It has been addressed several times by others in this thread that both programs (BSN and CNL) offer equal clinical opportunities, if it's clinical experience someone is interested in. I don't want others to think the CNL program is limiting in anyway because it absolutely is not.

Please research schools that accept CNL for DNAP and enlighten us that was a my specific question when I did my interview. I got very good answer that informed my decision.
If you plan to go into DNAP,???how much of the extra 9months spent in school credit can you put toward your doctorate. 14-16credits. How many schools can these credit transfer too??ask
We all have different reasons for going into nursing.
please remember this is a forum to ask questions and give feedback
Please I beg not to be mentioned anymorewe are grown and we all know what’s best
Goodluck to everyone. have a happy thanksgiving

Hey Femisola!
I apologize in advance for responding many months later, but I would like to thank you for opening up this dialogue between Entry level Masters and ABSN. You gave your perspective about the two degrees and honestly, your right! I was soo wrapped around getting my Entry level Masters, because I already have a Bachelors in science. I lost sight on what matters and what make sense to me and my path. At the end of the day RN is an RN, why would I pay for a 2 year degree, when I can get in 12-16 months. Many DNP programs (I am interested in getting my DNP-FNP) actually don't accept people who have Entry-level masters degree (GWU). I understand if you are applying to Entry level Masters and you already have your bachelors and masters in another field. I would to encourage other people to look into getting ABSN. I got accepted to GWU ABSN and I can't wait!
Once again Thanks?

For the rest of us who are unaware of this, could you post a link to the source that says GWU doesn't accept entry-level master's degrees? As far as I'm concerned, an MSN is an MSN.

Upon completion of the program you still have to take the NCLEX exam (in addition the CNL exam if you want to be certified as a CNL). With the MSN degree following the program, and RN certification following the NCLEX, you will still have the option of working as a bedside nurse! Matter of fact, most graduates end up working as an RN to gain some experience. And yes! A lot of students from the program end up applying to the various NP programs offered here too. Bottom line is, being a part of this program doesn't restrict you to the other roles in nursing. It's ultimately up to you to decide! It is intensive, but it's rewarding ?

Hi there! I know this is a super old thread but I was just accepted into the CNL program at UMSON and I desperately need advice! I have exactly 10 days to accept my offer. My biggest concern is affording it. I am out-of-state so tuition is almost double that of in-state. Do you have any advice? What is the true likelihood of receiving scholarships such as the CNL scholars program, Conway scholarship, and donor-funded scholarships?
