UMSON CNL Applicants for Spring 2015

Published

Hi All!

Starting a thread for CNL Applicants for Spring 2015! I'm very new to this website but looking forward to giving and receiving support though the application process. I've submitted my application already, pretty early I know, so I may not hear anything from them in for a while!

My undergrad degree was Biology from Towson, anyone else with similar background?

B.

Got stuck in traffic so hard to reschedule for my BLS training.

I'm interested in joining the facebook group.

Goodday

Congrats to everyone that received the call. I am so excited to get on this journey. It will be so worth it when we are finishing up. I would be interested in the Facebook group, let me know if it gets off the ground. I am coming from southern Anne Arundel COunty, so if any of you are in the area, we might be able to commute together.

Specializes in psych/dementia.
Thanks smoup, how will you rate the program so far? Also your career chances after school, I gave up offers for PA school for this...... hopefully I am not making a mistake

It's hard to rate the program not knowing what other programs are like. I don't regret doing the CNL program but would probably do some things different were I to do it again (like not work) UMSON has a very good NCLEX pass rate and placement rate after graduation, which is obviously important as well.

In the career aspect, I already have a job offer as well as two other places that want me to call after I pass the NCLEX. So, for me at least, it's been good. I've heard some of my classmates have direct/indirect offers from their practicum sites also.

Goodmorning,

@smoup thanks for sharing about the class organization. If I understand from their website we are taking 15 units for most of the semesters and the program runs two years right? Are there any changes to that?

Nope, those are the changes. I had 18 credits (fall) , 3 credits (winter), 18 credits (spring), 9 credits (summer), 16 credits (fall).

Thanks for all the good info @smoup! I'd love to get into a facebook group & be able to connect with everyone there.

When I got the call I asked how many people were accepted & she said 49, which I'm hoping is going to be a great group of people =]

I created a facebook group for all of us. Here is the address https://www.facebook.com/groups/UMSONCNLSpring2015/

It's a closed group, so I will have to approve you joining it, but after you are in anyone of the members can approve new members and add new members.

I am looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Thanks for creating the group zolo! I got home late from school and can't access facebook at work. :nailbiting:

I have joined the group but waiting to be accepted

Hi everyone,

I received my letter in the mail today. There are plenty of requirements to fulfill before orientation.

Oooof

Hey guys! Congrats to everyone! I also got accepted and received my acceptance letter in the mail today. Seems like we have a bunch to do prior to orientation. I also joined the Facebook group and am waiting to be approved. Hope to meet all of you soon :)

Is anyone using any type of grant or financial aid outside of student loan, just trying to see what my options are

Hey guys!! Congrats to everyone who was accepted!!

I'm applying for Fall 2015 and I was wondering if anyone could give me more insight into the interview and writing prompt? What questions did they ask?

I can say they basically want to know what you understand by the role of a CNL, they want to know you and how passionate you are about becoming a nurse, how you intend to finance the program and your past and present experiences in life and how that has contributed towards your decision to become a nurse. You are also given the opportunity to ask questions if you have any. Hope this helps.
