  1. @flipkid1287 I talked to people I worked with to see if they knew someone and then I started cold calling. Most will do it if you ask. Some will want to be paid. I kept those names to use if I was really desperate, but found others to precept me for free and used those instead.
  2. @flipkid1287 I was able to complete my hours with my preceptor via Telehealth as I had only 18 hours left when everything went down. Maryville was great about that and making sure I could complete my clinical in this way. @PMHP61 I had also looked at frontier as one of my colleagues attended. The thing that turned me away from that is you have to travel to the school to do some in person clinical and Maryville didn’t require that. Just something to think about.
  3. I just finished Maryville’s online PMHNP program and getting ready to take boards. It was challenging at times to work FT, take care of a family and complete, but it can be done. It felt overwhelming at times but I learned a lot of information and was able to retain it. The cost was acceptable too.
  4. I studied using UWorld, and completed ALL of the questions. I did do the Pearson Vue trick (even after most will say not to) and I got the good pop-up. I still wasn't satisfied because it's not for real unless it's on the BON website, so it didn't relieve much of my anxiety. I looked on the Maryland Board of Nursing's website and my license number was up. I passed, I'm a nurse :). Thanks for all the pep talks. I now understand the anxiety when the computer shuts off after 75 questions. I walked out of there thinking "what the heck just happened" and cried on my way home:cry:. I was worried about having to call my new boss and tell them I didn't pass and if they would hold the job for me.... .
  5. I hope both of you passed. IF the PVT worked let me know because I will be checking it as well when I get done. I hope after all that waiting it's good news. LOL that's why I scheduled on a Tuesday so hopefully I will know by Friday if I'm good. I can't imagine waiting so long to find out.
  6. That would suck..... I had just heard that someone had done it and couldn't register and found out they passed a day later. In Maryland, they usually have results within 2 business days of taking it. That's why I scheduled it on a Tuesday so hopefully, I will know by the weekend. Personally, after waiting in nursing school for grades I am pretty sure I can wait the two days to find out.
  7. I haven't seen the 35 page cram sheet. Where would I find it? Sounds like it was helpful. Yea, it's hard to have all these things rolling around in my head because some things are so similar that it is easy to confuse. I hope it comes together for me soon.
  8. I hope that it was "easy" for you because you knew it. Fingers crossed that you did it!!!! Thanks for the input about Uworld. I am doing ok on the practice tests, but I know there is more work to do, I am averaging like 55% on the practice exams. When you were studying on Uworld were you doing it by section or random. For instance, when I create a practice test, I pick Adult Health and then all systems and then 75 questions from that. Not sure if I should study one system and be proficient or do all questions randomly. What worked for you?
  9. Not sure if it is true, but I heard that you can go back into Pearson Vue after the exam and try to register to take the test again. If it lets you re-register to take it again you failed it. Like I said not sure if it's true or not because I don't take it until the end of this month. My school gave us Kaplan for free so I have been using that, and I started Uworld too. From the perspective of someone who passed it are the questions more like Uworld or Kaplan as far as details go. Uworld seems to be very detailed and Kaplan seems a little more broad.
  10. "Remember: most sodium is outside the cells, so serum Na+ is the big number. Most potassium is inside the cells, so serum K+ is the small number." I'm sorry "big number?" are you talking about the range? I'm not trying to be a dummy, but I have so much info in my head, I am struggling to make it all make sense. I am hoping so that it all starts to come together. Right now I feel like I only know a couple of ranges, and some consequences of potassium (heart), sodium (neuro), calcium (bones).
  11. Thank you all so much for breaking down the different types of solutions in easy to understand terms. I am a new graduate, getting ready to take the NCLEX and am really struggling with the fluid and electrolyte concepts. To boot, I got a job in the ER to start after I pass the test and am somewhat intimidated at the thought of having to know all of this, especially in an emergent situation. Just when I think I've got it, I fear not being able to act on it quickly. Any ideas? Bealadybug
  12. Congrats to everyone that received the call. I am so excited to get on this journey. It will be so worth it when we are finishing up. I would be interested in the Facebook group, let me know if it gets off the ground. I am coming from southern Anne Arundel COunty, so if any of you are in the area, we might be able to commute together.
  13. Received my phone call today and was accepted. I hope to see you all in the Spring.
  14. My application says "committee ready" also. I am a little nervous. Would like to start in the Spring, not sure how many applicants they take.
