UMB FALL 2011

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

I will be applying for the Fall 2011 program at UMB really really soon. I was wondering if anyone else was doing the same...? I'm really nervous about applying because Anatomy really kicked my butt last semester and I ended up getting a C (even though I ended up doing really well on my other science courses). Now, I'm losing hope. Anyone feeling the same?

Thank you for your input. It is very helpful.

If I may, I would like to reiterate Grey Lady's point. I was wait listed last fall and I was already making alternative plans for the semester. A week before school started, I was notified that a spot had become available (I was notified on a Friday, orientation was the following Wednesday and Thursday, and classes began on Monday). I know of two other people in my cohort who were wait listed and were offered spots a week before school as well. So there is definitely still hope for those who have not heard anything yet. I know the wait can be excruciatingly nerve wracking, but try to hang in there.

Hi everyone! So glad I found this thread!!!

My boyfriend was accepted to Baltimore campus on 04/12 and sent in his deposit Friday (with $18.95 over night guarantee-shipping because we've been waiting on my status). I was wait-listed on 04/21 and was extremely upset!! But I still have a glimmer of hope.

Re sewnew:

How did you deal with such a huge turn around for school?! And were you able to get housing in such a short amount of time? Any details of your experience would be extremely appreciated. Having to make alternate plans is killing me! I was accepted to UMass:Boston (Which is also "UMB," lol), I have already sent in my deposit, and now I am making plans to attend orientation in June/put a deposit on a place out there--but of course, University of Maryland is my number one and it would be just splendid if that "wait-list" turned into "admit" before then. Gosh, that would be AMAZING.

Thank you!

I hope you hear back soon and can start planning for Maryland. Is anyone else waiting to hear back still... for traditional bsn, rn-bsn, and other programs?

I am still waiting for a response for the CNL program. This is awful...unfortunately I will have to send my deposit in soon for the other school and then I won't be attending UMB b/c there is no way I am going to forfeit a couple hundred dollars. I understand that they are busy but I am sure they are aware that many people have other options and are obligated to let them know as well. I just feel bad b/c someone may be going through what I am going through, regarding the waiting game for an accept/decline. I guess I should be happy that I was accepted to a good program already. What to do...what to do...

Checked my status this morning, I got accepted as a provisional admit for the RN-BSN (have to take my boards and 1 summer class). Woo hoo!

Glad to hear you guys are gtg. Congrats.

@ksm84, who private messaged me:

I wish I could respond via pm, but I only have 7 posts and I guess there is a minimum of 15 posts required to be able to have access to the private messaging options.

In response to: "Hey I was waitlisted too for unb for fall. Do you know how they go about the waitlist- like how long they wait or how long it takes before they let people in off the waitlist. I was so disappointed. I am hoping that by some miracle I get in from the waitlist."

I called to get more information about being wait listed and all they could tell me was:

1. They can't disclose how many people are on the waiting list and therefore can't tell you where you are on that list.

2. They didn't say if there even is a specific ranking or if it's just random (can anybody else answer this question?)

3. Wait listed students could be accepted at anytime between now and the week before school starts (crazy!), so it's not like we will find out by a certain date if we're in or out.

In light of the information from #3, I read through a lotttt of pages on these blogs and found a few people that were accepted in late July and even students who were accepted the Friday before orientation.

I am still hopeful!

Thanks for the info!

And congrats to Aarika and nurse999 for making the rn-bsn program!

All I can tell you is that as a student declines an offer an offer is made to someone on the waiting list. Even if you knew how many were on the wait list the information would not help to predict your chances nor would knowing your rank (if there is one). Just know that it is a long time between now and the first day of school - a lot can happen. Sadly, many accepted students are struggling to find financial aid right now and some will be unsuccessful. Make sure you arrange your life as much as you can to pounce on an offer if (and I sure hope it does) come to you.

Congrats to Aarika and nurse999

:yeah:

Does anyone have any information on the MSN programs?
