UMB FALL 2011

U.S.A. Maryland

I will be applying for the Fall 2011 program at UMB really really soon. I was wondering if anyone else was doing the same...? I'm really nervous about applying because Anatomy really kicked my butt last semester and I ended up getting a C (even though I ended up doing really well on my other science courses). Now, I'm losing hope. Anyone feeling the same?

sbw4rn i am interested in your books. don't think i can pm yet.
Specializes in Emergency Department.
I'd love to hear what good things you heard about the Shady Grove campus if you have the time to share.

Sure, Grey Lady! I heard the small class sizes allow the professors to really get to know all of the students. Plus, most impressively, I heard there is more of a "no nurse left behind" philosophy down there- that there are people looking out for the students and take interest in their success (and prevent failure). ;) Don't know if that's a universal experience, just what I heard...

Keep up the good work! :)

Excellent! Thanks. Our faculty and staff not only have the opportunity to get to know the students, it's part of our culture to WANT to know them. You would not believe how much they pester me for the pictures of the incoming class as well as the continuing ones. We encourage our students to help each other in every way possible.....why? Because it works. In helping each other, students really do help themselves. Research backs me up on this. Believe me, the faculty and staff on main campus want the same things for you....passionately. Different campuses, same goals. Graduation and passing NCLEX!!!! And then going on to do the things that make us all so very proud to have been part of it. Best of luck.

Hi students!

I have a question for you all. I am in the midst of making a decision on whether to go for my ADN or a BSN. The biggest factors are time and cost. My question is...can I apply to the nursing program while I am still finishing up the prereqs? In other words, can I send in my application to start in the spring if I am enrolled in the last of the prereqs at the time?

Thanks!

Yep, that's what I did for this fall. I was accepted a month or so ago and just finished my pre-reqs last week.

Student4Life...did you have really high TEAS scores? What has been your GPA for the prereqs? I just had someone else respond to another post of mine and said she didn't get accepted and she had awesome TEAS scores and a pretty good GPA.

Any books listed as Required (as opposed to Recommended) you will need to buy. You will recieve a letter from the N315 couse coordinator confirming that later this summer. You might try to contact current students via Facebook to see if anyone is selling a used book.

BTW, Pharmacology for Nursing Care (Richard Lehne) is one of the best (if not the best) textbooks that I have come across. The author is very skilled at breaking down difficult concepts and making them easy to understand. Definitely worth the money!

YES!

you need the Lehne and the Porth explain the concepts from different points of view and rationals - I loved them both!
