UMB FALL 2011

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

I will be applying for the Fall 2011 program at UMB really really soon. I was wondering if anyone else was doing the same...? I'm really nervous about applying because Anatomy really kicked my butt last semester and I ended up getting a C (even though I ended up doing really well on my other science courses). Now, I'm losing hope. Anyone feeling the same?

Are online rn-bsn students required to attend an orientation session?

I have not tracked how many wait list students have been accepted for the Baltimore campus but at least seven have been accepted for Shady Grove. Sadly, over the summer some accepted students will discover either that they do not qualify for in state tuition or that they can't find enough financial aid and have to drop out or defer. So, if any accepted student out there is having second thoughts for any reason - the sooner you make up your mind the sooner someone on the wait list gets their much wished for offer.

If you are on the wait list, your chances are still alive. Hang in there and best of luck!

Hi Grady Lady xD

Thank you very much for your comment!

WOW!! 7 students have been accepted! That's very nice to hear! I actually wanted to send you an email to ask some questions about my situation because I do not get e-mail back from the admission office. I bet they are busy!

I am planning to take TOEFL test and improve my personal statement just in case. I would be so excited if I get accepted xD

Thank you!

Hi Apple! Keeping my fingers crossed for you. This was my second year trying to gain admission to nursing school, and (luckily) I have been successful this year. Last year I was waitlisted at both schools I applied to and did not make it in off of the waitlist (don't worry, neither of them were UMB :) ). I know exactly how you feel, praying that someone will give up their seat. Worst part about it was I had a full-ride scholarship through the military as well as an approved leave of absence and I had to give it back since I couldn't find a school. And while I have been accepted to UMB this year, if I am not re-approved for the scholarship again (I find out in three days or so), I will not be attending this year either. There is still a few months before school starts, so there is still a LOT of hope for you. Wishing you the best of luck, and hopefully we will both be at UMB in the fall! :)

Hi Kynchanted :)

Thank you for your reply!

Congratulations! I hope you will be re-approved for the scholarship so we can probably be a classmate (if I get accepted) :) hehe

University of Maryland has been my dream school since I chose to do BSN, so I really want to go there :nurse:

Aww!! Your encouragement made me feel better! I appreciate your kindness :) :redpinkhe

hello, everyone:

I have a question here. is the essay the same as resume? do we need to submit both if them for application?

Thanks a lot

Hope Gray lady can read my questions:

how the past poor GPA in college 10 years before affects the admission for nursing program? if I did good job at prerequisite courses and the four science major, are there any chance I can get into the program?

Looking forward to reading your reply. Thanks a lot!

Hello:)

The essay is different from resume (or CV), so you have to submit both of them;)

There is always a chance. Your entire application material will be scrutinized. It is not uncommon for a student to have a less than excellent start to their academic careers. Your recent work, especially in the sciences, will carry more weight but you should explain why your original GPA was not good in your essay. Show why you are not the same person you were 10 years ago and why you will succeed now. Life experiences can be used to show your commitment and determination and can be compelling. Best of luck!

Grey Lady:

Thanks a lot for replying my questions, even it was on Labor Day.

Your suggestions are so inspiring and useful. I will make more efforts in my essay for the application.

Really appreciate all your efforts in this forum to give us guidance and helps.
