UK old nurses question

What was the name of that foul (but addicting) smelly browny black paste we used to put on old infected IV sites??? My friend and I were talking about it last night and I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of it.

I loved it because it seem to solve all sore IV sites, but it was trashed when we had to use research based practice and we had no rationale for using it.:clown:

It kept me up wondering as well, I really am sure it was glicanic, it was like a paste.

It was glycanic. Glycerine and Icthamol. Lovely smell!

AHh thanks honey but every time I look at the years experience and see 20 years I remember being a student and thinking that the nurses who had been qualified 20 years were old :cry:

its 32 years since I started work as a nursing assistant (being too young to start training).. and 26yrs since I qualified as a nurse, 8 yrs since I qualified as a nurse practitioner..

ok now i feel old... lend me your zimmer frame!:chuckle
