UF Accelerated BSN Summer 2020

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello!

I noticed that there isn't a thread yet for all of us who are thinking about applying next summer for UF's Accelerated BSN. I know it's only June but I can't be the only one who is already stressing about the application process, the essays, not being good enough, etc. ?

Hopefully this thread can be a place where we can ask questions and support each other throughout the process!

A little about me: I currently attend UF as a Health Education major and would love to stay here and study at the Gainesville campus, but if I get into the Jacksonville one I will gladly go there! They're also requiring the HESI exam this year and I was wondering if anyone knew any tips and tricks. I've only ever heard of the TEAS! I find it so interesting that this one tests our anatomy/physio knowledge, but also kinda frightening because anatomy at UF was a nightmare for me LOL.

Good luck ya'll! We got this!

Hi there!
I just took the HESI about 2 weeks ago & all of the subjects they listed on the UF website are the ones on the test. There’s also a critical thinking & a learning personality test. It wasn’t hard, to be honest.

Thanks so much for your quick response! I'm glad to hear chemistry and physics were not included!

I've heard it's not a bad test, so fingers crossed I do well. The math content certainly seems much easier than I had expected, which is a relief!

Deadline is drawing near!!

Has anyone submitted their NursingCAS application yet?

Also, do you get a confirmation from the post bacc. app?

And I was also wondering about hearing back from the post-bacc application! nothing from them yet

Does anyone know around how long UF will take to make their final decisions regarding admissions?

Looking at last year's thread it seemed like an assessment link was sent to qualifying students, it was sent out from December 19-21 possibly. Based on last year's thread some students received it and some did not. Those that did not, I assume that their application was no longer being considered at that point but, the assessment link did go out in waves from what I gathered. Final decisions for that cohort went out on Feb.21.

For someone asking on the page before, I took the HESI and it does not test on vocabulary! Only what is listed on the UF nursing website, it was pretty easy in my opinion, I also took the TEAS for UCF's program and it was definitely harder! I was wondering if anyone who is currently in the program could answer a question for me. I am currently applying to the Summer 2020 ABSN for jax and gville campuses. My family is planning a trip and I am trying to decide if I can go. It would start the weekend before summer break and go through to the following week and ending the weekend after the first week back, so I would essentially have to miss a week of class. Would I completely fail out of the program if I missed a week of class? I think I would be totally behind in clinicals and my actual coursework but I want confirmation from someone currently in the program that I would not be able to miss a week and still succeed in nursing school before I tell my family not to book a spot for me on the trip. thanks!

I just recently took the HESI (only to apply to UF) and was wondering if my scores will be directly sent there or if theres somewhere I have to pay to submit it?

If you listed UF as your school when you signed up then you shouldn’t have to resubmit, but I would email Ken Foote to be sure.

hello! I am a little late in the game. I'm actually taking the HESI A2 exam this week!! Any tips/suggestions by anyone who took the exam already? I am unsure what to expect. Did anyone study for it? and If so what did you use? I have a solid background in anatomy and am straight out from my bachelor's so i'd like to think i have a good foundation.

Thanks in advance and good luck y'all!

There is no confirmation until you are accepted in the program. Just make sure there are no alerts/missing info.

I really wouldn’t plan on that. There are exams almost weekly, quizzes, participation grades... if you fall behind, it’s really hard to come back.
i don’t think they would accommodate make up exams for a vacation honestly ?‍♀️

Hello! I submitted my application finally ? I guess now comes the hard part of waiting until February for final decisions! Based on last year’s thread they got the emails about the assessment in late December so hopefully that’s the same this year so we have something to hold us over until February...
