UF Accelerated BSN Summer 2020

Published

Hello!

I noticed that there isn't a thread yet for all of us who are thinking about applying next summer for UF's Accelerated BSN. I know it's only June but I can't be the only one who is already stressing about the application process, the essays, not being good enough, etc. ?

Hopefully this thread can be a place where we can ask questions and support each other throughout the process!

A little about me: I currently attend UF as a Health Education major and would love to stay here and study at the Gainesville campus, but if I get into the Jacksonville one I will gladly go there! They're also requiring the HESI exam this year and I was wondering if anyone knew any tips and tricks. I've only ever heard of the TEAS! I find it so interesting that this one tests our anatomy/physio knowledge, but also kinda frightening because anatomy at UF was a nightmare for me LOL.

Good luck ya'll! We got this!

I just realized you said you're a HEB major--I was too! I graduated in spring.

Hi there! I’m currently a senior at UF on the Public Health track applying to ABSN as well :)

Really glad someone started a thread on this! I’m taking the HESI at the end of September and I’m kinda freaking out about the science and critical thinking parts. I did relatively well on the TEAS, which a lot of people say is harder than the HESI, so hopefully they’re right.

The UF ABSN application opened today and doesn’t look too bad! I’m also thinking of applying to UNF, UCF, and possibly FSU...

Hi!
I was supposed to take my HESI yesterday, but it was cancelled because of the hurricane so now I have to try to figure out another date to take it that works with my busy schedule. I was kinda bummed about it because I wanted to get it out of the way, but at least it gives me more time to prepare haha.
I was looking at the application earlier today & it's really not bad at all. I just have to edit my resume and really give some thought to those essay questions. I want to really take my time with it.
I'm also applying to UCF & UNF and I'm thinking about applying to UM as well. Trying to cover all of my bases in case I don't get into UF

Hey guys!

I also graduated from UF but my degree was in Criminology. I decided at the end of my junior year I wanted to switch to nursing so it was too late to change my major. I'm really excited but also nervous about applying. To any of you who are in it now, Is there a specific time you guys suggest applying by? And do a lot of people who put "no preference" get Jax over Gainesville?

I don’t think applying early makes your application that more competitive. I would put more thought into writing great essays rather than trying to get them in early ?

Jax has less spots than Gainesville, about 40 for Jax and I think around 100 for Gainesville. Besides these odds, I’m really not sure how placements were decided.

Does anyone know when HESI exams will be available to take next month? I went on the site to register for one and it said none were available.

Hi! Does anyone know how many students usually apply/are accepted into the Gainesville campus?

Hi!!

For those who have taken the HESI, was there a vocabulary section? I saw they listed the sections that are going to be on their version of the HESI but I just wanted to double check and not have to study for the portion of the exam.

Last year they said there were over 1,000 applicants for both campuses. About 100-110 are accepted in Gainesville, 40 in Jax.

Hi, everyone! I'll be submitting my application on Friday. Is there anyone else hoping to be accepted into the Gainesville cohort?

Also applying to the UF ABSN program for 2020! I see on the website it states that for the HESI: "Required examination areas include: Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Grammar, Math, Reading Comprehension, Critical Thinking, Learning and Personality Style."

I am wondering if this is an exhaustive list of which subjects are actually required?? It does not specify in the prometrix scheduler (only that it is "with critical thinking"). Could someone who's taken the HESI please give some insight on this? I want to make sure I'm not 'ignoring' other topics that are, in fact, required - such as Chemistry!

Thanks!

Hi there!
I just took the HESI about 2 weeks ago & all of the subjects they listed on the UF website are the ones on the test. There’s also a critical thinking & a learning personality test. It wasn’t hard, to be honest.
