Hello!
I noticed that there isn't a thread yet for all of us who are thinking about applying next summer for UF's Accelerated BSN. I know it's only June but I can't be the only one who is already stressing about the application process, the essays, not being good enough, etc. ?
Hopefully this thread can be a place where we can ask questions and support each other throughout the process!
A little about me: I currently attend UF as a Health Education major and would love to stay here and study at the Gainesville campus, but if I get into the Jacksonville one I will gladly go there! They're also requiring the HESI exam this year and I was wondering if anyone knew any tips and tricks. I've only ever heard of the TEAS! I find it so interesting that this one tests our anatomy/physio knowledge, but also kinda frightening because anatomy at UF was a nightmare for me LOL.
Good luck ya'll! We got this!

Hi!!
I'm a fellow UF Alumni (graduated this past fall with a major in Anthro) and just finished doing my last pre-q's for other programs in the state. I saw that they're requiring the HESI this year too. I only heard that the HESI is a lot easier than the TEAS so I'm hoping that's true. So far I'm just reviewing everything I've learned via a HESI study book I was recommended online. I'm thinking about taking it in November or October. I'm pretty nervous for this cycle not gonna lie, but I think we'll do good!! ?

Hi there!
I'm a high school English teacher & I've been doing that for the past 4 years, but I'm ready for a career change that is going to make me happy so that has led me to Nursing.UF is my first choice, whether it's the Gainesville or Jacksonville campus and I'm very nervous because my gpa is currently only a 3.4. I'm hoping to raise my gpa at least a little more with the pre-reqs I'm taking and I feel I need to shine on the HESI. I tried registering for the HESI the other day with the dept ID provided by UF on EVOLVE, but it said there are no exams available. Does anyone know when UF will be opening up the registration? I want to be able to take it soon so in case if I have to take it again, I have a lot of time to prepare.

Hey there!
I’m currently a student in the 2019 cohort. I’m happy to answer questions about the program!
We did not have the HESI requirement, so I can’t really help with that part.
If you have specific questions about your application, you’ll want to email Kenneth Foote, who’s currently the academic advisor for all tracks since Kenneth Wynn isn’t here anymore.
Good luck everyone!
Forgot to mention I’m at the Jax campus. I’ll be able to answer more specifically about Jacksonville.

How do you like being at the Jacksonville campus? Do you feel it's any different than being at the Gainesville campus? Anything you feel you're missing out on, more specifically with the program?

There are services to which we should technically have access that only exist in Gainesville (student services, gym, bus services... I mean we are technically paying for all of that). And the amenities/CSESaR lab here on campus are dated and probably not as top-of-the-line as the ones in Gainesville.
However, I cannot say that any of it has had an impact on my schooling. I seriously love the program. I'm sure other students feel differently about this, this is pretty subjective.
We have a small cohort, which I really like. Our professors are awesome, I sincerely love all of them (which, of course, is super personal and will vary greatly person to person), and I feel like our smaller cohort (39 people in our class vs twice as many in GVL) really helps with the personalized quality of the teaching.
edited to add: We do have access to free mental health services for UF student and UF staff right there on campus.

Sorry, I'm just seeing this! Finals took over my life for a little lol. Thank you for your insight! It helps to hear about the good, the bad, & the ugly in order to make a solid choice when the time comes to apply.
Has anyone taken HESI yet or is scheduled to take it soon? I'm scheduled for Aug. 31st & I'm kinda freaking out lol.

Hi! I took it and it's really not bad at all. I was expecting it to be taxing and stressful, but the most stressful part was how badly I stressed myself out. If you've passed high school math and reading classes, then you'll be fine. :)

Oh, what a relief! How was the science portion? And the Critical Thinking portion? I think those are the parts that have me stressed out the most.

The critical thinking was situational questions. I want to say they were all or mostly relevant to nursing. The science wasn't difficult. I don't remember specifics (I took it in Feb I think) but it wasn't difficult at all. Don't stress (easier said than done, I know, but trust me YOU CAN DO IT!)
