UF Accelerated BSN Summer 2020

Published

Hello!

I noticed that there isn't a thread yet for all of us who are thinking about applying next summer for UF's Accelerated BSN. I know it's only June but I can't be the only one who is already stressing about the application process, the essays, not being good enough, etc. ?

Hopefully this thread can be a place where we can ask questions and support each other throughout the process!

A little about me: I currently attend UF as a Health Education major and would love to stay here and study at the Gainesville campus, but if I get into the Jacksonville one I will gladly go there! They're also requiring the HESI exam this year and I was wondering if anyone knew any tips and tricks. I've only ever heard of the TEAS! I find it so interesting that this one tests our anatomy/physio knowledge, but also kinda frightening because anatomy at UF was a nightmare for me LOL.

Good luck ya'll! We got this!

so were mine! that's why I'm confused

I had this same issue and I emailed kianna last week and she said don’t worry if things still say they’re under review! As long as everything was submitted, you’ve applied correctly.

As for those who were rejected last cycle, do you mind me asking what your stats were like?

3.66 overall, 3.23 prereq GPA . There wasn’t a test last year. I’m they give priority to students with health experience

Anyone else’s anxiety sky high this week? What are y’all doing to stay relaxed?

Hey, 2021 hopefuls!

Again, current 2020 student here. I'm sorry to hear you guys didn't get results last week -- I can only imagine the anxiety you're feeling! As difficult as it may be, try to do things to calm and center yourselves. If you made it this far, it's because you have great potential.

UF College of Nursing seems to take a comprehensive and holistic approach to selecting students. While a good GPA makes you competitive, and health care experience is nice, that's not all that they look at. I was an English major that worked as a teacher in Japan, then worked in translation and later cultural affairs for 4 years. My only healthcare "experience" was volunteering at a hospital on Saturdays for about a year.

All that said, keep in mind that there are always more qualified applicants than there are positions in any competitive program. If for some reason you don't get selected on Friday, DO NOT let this discourage you from your goals. If you really want to be a nurse, you can definitely make it happen.

I recommend you all find something that makes you happy/helps you de-stress each day this week. Some ideas: meditation, yoga, dinner with a friend, reading a good book, doing a face mask, watching a new movie or a silly, old favorite.

Just to clarify- we will either get accepted or rejected by Friday right? Or is the waitlist also an options? Thanks!

Regarding wait-list:

I'm not sure how they do it, but last year we had a few people offered a spot as late as the week of orientation (first week of May). My suspicion is that some people who had originally accepted suddenly dropped out and a spot was vacant.

Wouldn’t an acceptance be the greatest bday present ever for us?! Let’s pray?

I have never felt more nervous OMG

I am also in the same situation:

I am a senior at FSU with a BS in psychology and a 3.6 GPA including nursing prereqs. I've been working as a CNA and have interned/shadowed a nurse practioner recently. I'm interested in ABSN UF but not sure if I meet the criteria.

? Longest two weeks ever! Luckily I work all day tomorrow until 4pm, so by the time I get home, I will know if I got in or not. I'm probably going to distract myself by watching Avatar The Last Airbender and hope for the best.

Today is the big day!! Good luck to everyone!! I'm crossing my fingers!!?

Good luck everyone! Including a bit of a message my mom just sent me in case anyone else needs to hear it?

"Just remember that if it doesnt happen this time, dont be hard on yourself. Everything happens for a reason, I strongly believe. We know you will achieve your goals one day, but it might not be now. Whatever the outcome, please be kind to yourself and accept that you might need to wait for another time or a different school. Either way the decision today goes, you got this?"
