  1. I am also in the same situation: I am a senior at FSU with a BS in psychology and a 3.6 GPA including nursing prereqs. I've been working as a CNA and have interned/shadowed a nurse practioner recently. I'm interested in ABSN UF but not sure if I meet the criteria.
  2. Hi everyone, I am a Senior at Florida State University majoring in Pyschology. I was orginally intertested in the major because I wanted to serve communities and help people and I felt that mental health's effect on the body is a field that needs a lot of research. However after working as a CNA part time to make money while in school I realized I loved the hollistic and hands approach that nursing offers. So I am applying to ABSN schools in Florida. I am just wondering because its so competitive if I am a good candidate. I have an overall 3.6 GPA which includes all the required nursing prerequisites. I am currently only retaking one course that I got a C in and the rest of my science courses I have As and Bs. I have experience working in the field. I also am really involved in Dance Marathon which is a charity organization that raises funds for our local Hospital for local children with pediatric illness. I am also involved in HOSA and was a member of the Hispanic Honor Society for Psychology students. I am also applying to FSU, UF, USF, UCF, FAU, and UNF. I really want to get into FSU's. I honestly fell in love with the nursing profession after my time as a CNA even though at first it was just a job for me. I have always wanted to work with patients and be involved in caring for others and serving my community. I love working with children and I honestly I feel my psych background has prepared me for interacting with others especially in crisis management. My psychology focus is clinical and mental health counseling so I deal with individuals in a variety of emotional and mental states. I also feel that the mind and body work together in your health. I am also very good with leadership and advocacy which I think is important when you're nurse, because you are the one who spends the most time with patients and can vouch for them when you notice their needs and any changes in their condition. I live in Southern Scholarship Foundation house where I am the House Manager and I live with and manage 26 girls and we split up responsibilities in the house such as chores and splitting the rent and the activities and academic requirements as another leadership experience as well as working for a non profit and community out reach through that program. What I'm trying to say is I'm super nervous because I am changing my career track and I want some advice and feed back about how I can achieve this.
  3. Hey guys so I am currently applying to Absn programs. I’ve only retaken one course for Microbiology lab which was my only C, all my other prerequisites were As and Bs. My overall GPA for my degree plus prerequisites for nursing is 3.6 with a BS in Psychology. I’ve also worked as a CNA in the past and had an internship with a Nurse Practioner at a primary care office. I was just wondering what my chances are as far as getting into nursing schools. I’m applying to FLorida State , university of Florida, university of south Florida university of central Florida, Florida Atlantic and university of north Florida. I really want to get into University of Florida’s
