UF Accelerated BSN Summer 2020

Published

Hello!

I noticed that there isn't a thread yet for all of us who are thinking about applying next summer for UF's Accelerated BSN. I know it's only June but I can't be the only one who is already stressing about the application process, the essays, not being good enough, etc. ?

Hopefully this thread can be a place where we can ask questions and support each other throughout the process!

A little about me: I currently attend UF as a Health Education major and would love to stay here and study at the Gainesville campus, but if I get into the Jacksonville one I will gladly go there! They're also requiring the HESI exam this year and I was wondering if anyone knew any tips and tricks. I've only ever heard of the TEAS! I find it so interesting that this one tests our anatomy/physio knowledge, but also kinda frightening because anatomy at UF was a nightmare for me LOL.

Good luck ya'll! We got this!

I think it’s coming out Friday, that way they’re not bombarded with calls the next day and they get a chance to breathe before having to respond to emails and calls on Monday. So let the countdown begin 4 more days

Hi everyone! Like all of you, I am so anxious about the decisions that I keep checking the application status and my email constantly for any updates! The wait is driving me crazy but I'm happy to find this forum and know that I'm not alone in this! ?

By the way, does anyone know of any scholarship opportunities?

Hi, I know this is super random. I was just wondering if anyone has spoken to anyone at UF today or yesterday. I guess I am just wondering if decisions are coming out Friday? I feel like its not fair to tell us someday this week and then make us wait til Friday, LOL.

I'm kinda tempted to call them either today or tomorrow. I just feel bad for constantly annoying them, but oh well LOL I don't know if I have the patience to be put on hold/voicemail.

When I called last Friday, I got -"you should know by Friday, they were waiting on the approval of the cohort". But I agree with what someone mentioned above. It will probably be Friday and I suspect late Friday, like around 3-5pm so they can finish the work week without being bombarded with calls and walk-ins from people that either didn't get in or didn't get their campus choice. Waiting will give them sometime to breathe over the weekend before tackling the questions on the next Monday. For a few people these decisions will be good news but on the flip side for a lot it will be bad news. I too was very anxious and rushing the decisions but I thought about what she said and it calmed me- "they are waiting for the final approval of the cohort" I don't want them to rush I want them to get it right- the final approval could be the difference of my name being on the list or not so I'll patiently wait. Last year there were many hiccups, people got the wrong campus -people were denied but really got in. I'd rather them take the extra days to get things right the first time.

Very good way of putting things! You have put it into perspective a little bit more for me and I too have been trying to be a bit more patient with the wait ? It’s hard waiting on our end no doubt, but you’re right I’d rather them take their time and get everything perfect rather than rushing under pressure or deadlines. Do we think the office will be open that following Monday or the next week? I go to UF but I am not sure if the entire campus closes for Spring break when the students leave so it might be silent for a week if they too close their office after Friday if that’s when decisions are released.

Just to clarify- we will either get accepted or rejected by Friday right? Or is the waitlist also an options? Thanks!

I have friends that work at UF and they work during Spring break, only students are out. Doesn't mean however that they couldn't have scheduled to be out on vacation, LOL.

I tried reading the old thread for answers, here is what I gathered. Some people received emails with acceptance and denials, someone mentioned being wait listed and I assume her email told her this, there were a handful who never got an email- I could not gather what happened with this group or what that meant. There will be a few people offered admissions but will not accept ( due to campus choice, change of heart, got into another school, health, family, finances etc) I would assume those slots would be offered to wait listed people first. Then those who got denied can appeal and I would assume if they still have slots to fill those people will be accepted on a case by case basis. One thing I do know is that these programs run on a funding model, X amount of slots= X amount of funding needed to operate, they will not let slots go unfilled. If they have say 200 slots to fill they will pull from a wait list or re-offer admissions to denials rather than be short funding- so word of advice for everyone keep fighting a no upfront may not be the final decision.

By the way last year's thread a 2018 student said their decisions came out exactly at 5:00pm and so did the 2019 group.

Yes I applied last year and I couldn’t appeal my denial, Kenneth said all decisions were final. And last year I got my denial email exactly at 5:00pm
