UF accelerated BSN Summer 2019

U.S.A. Florida

Hello!

It's only May but I am already working on getting my ducks in a row for the Post-bacc application. I thought it would be nice to start a thread so applicants can support each other through the process! I know I have a million questions already and I am trying hard not to pester admissions.

I am so excited to be almost done with my prerequisites and I am looking forward to finally applying this Fall!

I would love to hear about everyone's background, projects, questions, and hopefully we can help each other out.

Good luck to all! We got this!

I am waiting on UNF!

I don't want to pay the deposit yet but I am scared that if I don't do it right now my spot will be taken (even though the email said the deposit isn't due until March 22!)

I emailed Kenneth about the confirmation being confirmed and the deposit and all he said was to "pay the deposit asap" so I am a little nervous about the urgency!

any advice????

Your spot won’t be taken, you’ve been chosen so they won’t give away your spot. They just say to do it as soon as possible so they can off spots to waitlist or petition students. But they won’t offer those available spots til after the deadline. ?

for the absn program, will we register ourselves for classes or does the academic adviser register us?

also, are there multiple times for classes or is every class only offered at one time? (and same for clinicals)?

thank you!

For those moving to JAX - Myself and 2 other girls (also absn nursing students) plan to rent at a 4 bed/4 bath, furnished apartment, and are looking for a 4th roommate! Let me know if you're interested!

For those who were accepted, has the CON changed your status to active? I'm not listed as a current student yet so I can't access the MyTraining modules. I was wondering if I should email Kenneth.

where are you looking to see this??

@mirandagoss I couldn't log in to the MyTraining website (that I accessed through CastleBranch) so I called the Help Desk and they told me that I was listed as a "former" student and needed the CON to change my affiliation.

@BenAffleckIsAnOkActor I’m having the same issue with still being listed as a former student. They haven’t updated my info in the UF system yet. I’m assuming that they will be working on this now that we have confirmed our seats and paid deposits, etc. I haven’t emailed anyone about it yet because I’m pretty sure they’re still dealing with all the chaos of everyone’s acceptance vs. denial. I’m going to work on the other things and give them a little bit of time to sort it out before I email them about it.

Also, someone in the FB group Said she emailed the lady in charge of CastleBranch and that there was a problem in that there was two packages showing up instead of just one. Neither one of the packages included a background check either, so they’re probably going to make us redo it. I’d wait on the training just because of that.

I’m not a former UF student and I could not access the trainings either.

Oh no! I already paid for both ?. Good to know.

Anyone who was denied , are you still trying to petition or have you gave up?

Hey all!

Out of curiosity, did anyone ask Kenneth (or whoever would know the answer to this) the statistics on this years applicants? I recall on one of the prior UF ABSN forums someone had emailed Kenneth and he provided the number of total applicants, # of accepted, average GPA, etc.

To past students: was it common for students to be nervous giving needle shots the first few times?

blood and needles doesn’t make me queasy but, I know that i’ll be nervous. How did you guys feel?

Hi! I am still trying to petition. However the department seems very reluctant to help in doing so. I was referred to a petition form but I am pretty sure it is not the right one. They told me it is done through the university not the college. I have retroactively withdrawn from a course at UF during my undergrad and it is the same exact form that requires instructor interview forms, etc. I'm trying to gain clarification as the form does not seem applicable to us. This is the link I was given: https://registrar.ufl.edu/services/petitions
