UF accelerated BSN Summer 2019

U.S.A. Florida

Hello!

It's only May but I am already working on getting my ducks in a row for the Post-bacc application. I thought it would be nice to start a thread so applicants can support each other through the process! I know I have a million questions already and I am trying hard not to pester admissions.

I am so excited to be almost done with my prerequisites and I am looking forward to finally applying this Fall!

I would love to hear about everyone's background, projects, questions, and hopefully we can help each other out.

Good luck to all! We got this!

Just to give you an idea of the schedule, this semester we have clinicals on Mondays, sometimes 6:30am-2:30pm, sometimes evenings for psych. Tuesdays are for exams or extra labs, usually 10-12, 2-4. Wednesdays we have class 8-4, Thursdays class 8-5, Fridays are for exams.

Wow, that is one busy schedule. Thanks so much for sharing!

That would be very difficult as most of the classes are during the day, and clinical is also during the morning/early afternoon. I worked 20-35 hours a week at times, but I worked a 3-11 shift. I believe the only reason I got through working that many hours was because I was a night person so I did schoolwork when I got home, and I worked at a retirement home so when I got the residents to sleep I would study and work on homework. I highly recommend a job like that! It not only helped me clinically, but having the time to study at work helped a ton. If it wasn't for the down time at work I would've never been able to work nearly full-time. It is a very demanding program, and there are a lot of outside activities from the classroom so scheduling can be hard so finding a job that will understand is crucial too. Hope that helps!

That is super helpful! It sounds like I'll have to let go of the idea of working full time, but I figure the program has to be that intense since it is so short!

Hello! I wanted to ask if anyone on here knows if the absn program allows deferment of acceptance for a year?

If (hopefully) I am accepted to the 2020 absn cohort, I am thinking about deferment due to some health issues that have come up. I worry that I need to be at the top of my health game for a program like this! Hoping last years applicants might have any insight for me on if deferring is a possibility?

I really doubt it. But to be sure I’d email them.
