UCSF MSN FALL 2014

Published

Just wanted to start a separate thread for those whom have applied for UCSF's traditional MSN program for Fall 2014. I personally applied for AGNP program, crossing fingers. I initially wanted to apply last year but welcomed our 3rd child last August and thought it might be too much to take on at the same time.

From checking out some older threads and asking Student Affairs, it looks like we won't get word until late March or even early April.

I sure hope that doesn't mean everyone who got in has been selected and notified by now! My application page still reads "Under Review".

The closed specialties just means that those specialties are no longer taking applications, but some still are with a due date of June 1st. I guess it has to do with how many applications they had received, some specialties are much more popular than others.

Hello everyone!

Special thanks to jojonavy for starting this separate thread for the traditional MSN students! I applied for the FNP program and plan on minoring in the HIV/AIDS specialty if I get in! This whole waiting period is intense and every time I check my e-mail I get a bit of anxiety! Good luck to everyone and hopefully we hear sooner rather than later!

Received my rejection email last Thursday for AC/AGNP which I expected because my recommendations weren't complete.

I've been checking my UCSF MS Application account daily. Today there was a new message letting me know I was accepted to the MS program I applied for (the program itself wasn't named, but I had applied for the Psychiatric NP program). I am jumping around the room with happiness!

Awesomeness 1982RN!!!!, i was also thinkiing of do Psych NP and working with addiction patients. I dont have any psych experience though.

I did not have any official mental health RN experience aside from nursing school, but I use to work with a lot of older clients at a skilled nursing facility (demential, Alzheimer's) as an activities leader, and I saw a lot of patients suffering from both psychiatric and medical conditions working in an ICU an an RN.

Admitted today to the PMHNP program! I did not receive an email. I've been checking the site about 20 times a day and finally today it said "Decision Made" click here. Boy was I nervous to click on it. Now just waiting on the financial aid instructions. I called the number and they said to wait for the letter.

I just learned of my acceptance to the PMHNP program today, also very surprised to hear back this fast!

My heart was pumping FAST when I clicked on that message. Thankfully my goal statement and personal history essay, volunteer and work experience, and recommendations made up for my less than stellar nursing GPA! Thankful for UCSF for acknowledging nursing multiple-choice test are not the end all for personal potential!

Congrats on all those that have gotten in!! Just called again and they said it just depends on you specialty because each specialty coordinator does things differently. Anyone whom applied to Adulte Gero NP get any word yet? Starting to sweat bullets. Also those that got in so far, was your Stats class within the last 6 years?

My stats class was about 15 years ago and I got in. I never said it had to be within a specific time frame.
