Wow I'm surprised they're interviewing next week! My application for UCSD Med-Surg still says "referred to hiring department"

11/27 is the week after thanksgiving

My friend and I both got calls yesterday, interview screening, from Oncology managers. They plan to hold in-person interviews soon.

No word on my PCU app yet other than referred. Based on my experience last round each unit invites 6-8 candidates to interview out of the 100 or so applicants.

Which oncology unit are you interviewing with??

How far in advance do they let you know of an interview? I would need to buy a flight to go down and my status still says referred to hiring department. I want to plan as far in advance as possible.

to those who got referred to NICU, did you guys have a NICU preceptorship?

Hi I got referred and had a nicu preceptorship but I know people who didn't and still got referred.

I got referred to NICU too, but doing my preceptorship in the adult ICU if that helps!

I got referred to the nicu but did not do my preceptorship in the nicu or ICU. I did it at ucsd in a different department. I think anyone who meets the minimum qualifications is automatically referred to hiring department. I have my NRP & PALS.

Has anyone gotten an interview for NICU?

No interview for nicu yet I haven't heard anything

Definitely not. I meet the minimum requirements as do many of my classmates and most of us did not get referred to a hiring department. Of my classmates, the only ones who were referred for any of the new grad positions were internal candidates who already work at UCSD.  We are probably at a disadvantage for two reasons though- my school doesn't do preceptorships so none of us have those hours, and we don't graduate until Feb 18, so UCSD may be dinging us for that late date.

I got referred to hiring for the NICU and haven't heard anything yet either. I did my preceptorship at Rady's in the CTICU and currently work in the NICU at CHOC in a temporary nursing position. I also have my PALS and NRP and 3 years of peds CNA experience. Hopefully we will hear back soon!

Do you work in the NICU at choc as an RN? How did you find a temporary position there? I know they have their residency program but I haven't heard of temporary new graduate positions
