UCSD New Grad Residency March 2024

Published

Applications open October 18 for March 2024 cohort.

I was on the webinar. Neither mary birch nor Grossmont are hiring in any unit this fall. That only leaves one nicu which is Chula Vista and they did not say they are going to hire. I don't think they ever do.

Hey all! I have a question, but I'm not sure any of you would be able to answer.

I'm a new grad nurse working in a level IV NICU at a hospital in Sacramento. I will be hitting my 6 months in June, and I saw that there is potentially an application opening in June for a November cohort. I know it says less than 6 months experience is required, but do you know anyone that has gotten into the new grad program at UCSD with prior nursing experience? And do you think having exactly 6 months of experience at the time of application will disqualify me?

Sacramento pay is great, but San Diego is my home and where I'm happiest so I'm just trying to make my way back, for my mental and emotional sake!

I totally understand the feeling of wanting to come back home but just get to the year mark then apply. Most transition programs or units just want that one year mark. You are almost there. I know ucsd and Rady's accept RN's with a year and more experience. You got this!

Thank you 🥺 originally, I was thinking about toughing it out and getting the experience before I apply to any hospitals in San Diego.. but I'm just so eager to go back home because I hate Sacramento 😭 I only moved for nursing school and ended up landing a job here.

But I guess for now, I should just rack up the experience and as much money as I can because the pay difference between RNs in San Diego and Sacramento is huge. I went to a private university so I'm in a ton of student loan debt 😅

Hello everyone, does anyone know when the next new grad dates will be (application deadlines, start dates, etc)? I'm assuming sometime in Summer?

I interviewed for a PCU position but sadly wasn't given an offer.

Hi, I know you applied for the past cohorts and I hope your job hunt has been treating you well. I noticed you interviewed for the PCU at UCSD for the past cohorts. I have an interview for the 2 East PCU next week. Do you have any insight/advice on the types of questions asked during the interview by any chance?
