Applications open October 18 for March 2024 cohort.
Hey all! I have a question, but I'm not sure any of you would be able to answer.
I'm a new grad nurse working in a level IV NICU at a hospital in Sacramento. I will be hitting my 6 months in June, and I saw that there is potentially an application opening in June for a November cohort. I know it says less than 6 months experience is required, but do you know anyone that has gotten into the new grad program at UCSD with prior nursing experience? And do you think having exactly 6 months of experience at the time of application will disqualify me?
Sacramento pay is great, but San Diego is my home and where I'm happiest so I'm just trying to make my way back, for my mental and emotional sake!

They're strict about the 6 months. You would need to quit your current job before 6 months.

LOL never mind then! 😅 I'm not willing to quit before my 6 months unfortunately 😕
I looked at UCSD's current Clinical Nurse 2 NICU position that's posted, and it says, "Minimum two (2) years of recent Level III NICU RN experience. (If sufficient applicant pool, department may consider RNs with less than 2 years of NICU Level III experience.”
I may just tough it out at my level IV in Sacramento for another year and a half or so until I reach 2 years of experience and apply for a Clinical Nurse 2 position when I'm eligible.

Ahhh, thank you so much! I forgot to look into other health care systems like Sharp and Scripps LOL. I saw that they had a webinar today at 3PM. 😕 Did you happen to attend and figure out what units were hiring? I was hoping to stay in the NICU!

Someone in the Stanford Children's 2024 post said they were given a nicu offer, but maybe they are still sending more offers.
