UCSD Medical Center New Grad Program January 2012

U.S.A. California

Published

Just wanted to start a thread for UCSD's New Program. Feel free to post any updates or news :)

Probably will find out next week. For those that get hired they want you to attend a 2 day course starting on 12/28. The program starts 1/10/12.

What two day course starts on 12/28? Is this for all new grads or is this specific to the floor or unit for which you applied?

The position was posted beginning of November. They already contacted people for interview. The next program will be in April.

Hi persistancepays - I have two years of experience on a Bmt unit in AZ and am applying for one of 4 positions on Thornton 3 west. Would you mind if I private messaged/emailed you?mwould love to hear about your unit and how you like it!

Hey everyone,

Has anyone's status changed yet for the telemetry position? I checked mine today and it's now changed from "referred to hiring dept" to "under consideration." Still haven't gotten any emails or calls, so not sure what to think. Thinking of calling HR tomorrow. Any feedback is appreciated and good luck to us all! We'll all get a job in time, hopefully soon.

One of my classmates got a job with NICU and another got a job with CVICU. Both have their RN license and both have medical experience. I'm pretty sure that hospitals are only considering new grads with RN license.

I just received a phone call from the nurse manager of telemetry for an interview. my status changed to "considered for interview". I actually just accepted a job at the VA Palo Alto in their new grad residency on the surgical telemetry floor, so i'm not going to moved forward with UCSD, but I wanted to let people know that they are still hiring!!!

Good luck everyone, and seriously don't give up. something will come up. it took me 6 months after graduating and working in a SNF for 5 months to finally get a hospital new grad job. Be persistent!

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Anyone apply for Med/Surg? There was another round of new grad positions that opened up and I applied on 1/21/12. My status says "application received" and that the position is still open. I have a BSN, but only volunteer experience, no paid RN experience.

Has anyone had a status change for Thornton IMU or Hillcrest PCU 5 West from March/April?

I did. But I've had a status change before and it went nowhere, so I'm not really counting on them. Did you have a status change as well?

No status change, I just keep applying for positions as they come up.
