  1. Hi everyone, I'm currently going through the prescreening process for an inpatient psych job at Sharp Grossmont. I don't have a start date yet (to be determined by hr), but my urine drug screen came back invalid due to having large amounts of nitrites. I'm supposed to get a second one done but haven't heard back from them yet. The NP said someone was gonna call me yesterday but they never did. Anyways, my question is, has anyone ever had 2 invalid drug tests that showed positive for nitrites? Wondering, if this happens to me cause of a possible UTI or starting my period soon, what would happen next. The NP told me that a second invalid result would be a failed drug screen. Any tips and info would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Even though I love psych, I ended up picking cardiac. I actually start June 1st. How long were you in ND for? Any decent places to live in the downtown area? I checked out the area via spotcrime.com and saw that it might be a rough neighborhood near Sanford off Broadway. Would you say this is accurate? Where did you live before Fargo? Thanks in advance for any info you can give, I appreciate it.
  3. Good luck! Let me know how it goes. Any places in Fargo that you know of that a single female should avoid? Thanks in advance.
  4. What date do you start? If I pick Sanford & choose cardiac progressive, my start date isn't til May 3rd.
  5. I might be going to Sanford on the cardiac progressive unit as well. Have 2 offers for cardiac & psych, not sure which I'll choose yet. I love psych but I also want a med/surg experience, too, since I'm starting out. Anyone have any experiences working at Sanford, good or bad? I've seen kinda mixed reviews, a little positive and a little negative, so I'm not sure what to think of them. Also, I got an offer from Vibra in Mandan, too. If you guys had to pick between Vibra (with 10k bonus over 2 yrs + 5k relocation assistance) and Sanford (supposedly a good teaching hospital + 1k in relocation expenses reimbursed), which would you choose? Thank you so much in advance, and congrats to those with job offers!
  6. Based on a previous post in this thread, I made the cut off. I applied at 8:42am. Honestly, I don't get it. I meet all the qualifications. Graduated in May 2011 with my BSN, completed an RN Refresher course this past May, and am IV certified, have NIH Stroke Scale certificate, BLS, and ACLS. I don't get it. I hope lots of you end up getting interviews. Best of luck to those that do.
  7. Wow. Already got rejected. Status changed to "no longer under consideration." Hope everyone else hears good news soon!
  8. Thank you for starting this thread! Good luck to all of us! Any status changes for anyone yet? So far, mine just says "submission received."
  9. I took one this past spring and there were maybe half RNs and half LVNs in the class. They give you 4 CEs if you're an RN and I forget how many if you're an LVN, but more than 4. It's not in the Inland Empire though. It's at Grossmont Health Occupations Center down in Santee (east of San Diego). They also have a very highly recommended RN Refresher class if you or anyone you know needs to take it. I had to take it this past spring since I was coming up on my 2 year post-graduation mark with no job yet.
  10. Thank you to everyone who responded. Helps to know that I'm still considered a new grad, but frustrated at the lack of job offers. Hopefully this is all just a temporary setback. I just recently got hired in retail and going through the initial 2 week training period. I'm hoping to save up enough money from this job so I can get my resume & cover letter professionally done. And pay off my loan little by little. Persistence is key, fellow unemployed new grad nurses. Someone told me about doing a vision board that has words and pics of what your ideal goal looks like. Can help keep you motivated during the rough times.
  11. I took it at Grossmont Health Occupations Center in Santee, CA. Best one in CA for the price ($400). And as far as I know, it's the only one that'll give you 192 hrs of clinicals at Kaiser. :) Highly recommended. Let me know if you can't find their web site and/or if you have any other questions.
  12. Only RN experience I have is 5 months of Home Health, and that was Per Diem. So I guess, according to quite a few facilities, I'm still a new grad and will still be one if/when I reach the 3 year graduation mark. How frustrating this job hunt is.
  13. Hi, everyone. I graduated May 2011 and am wondering if I'm still considered a new grad, and at what point I'm no longer considered. I just took an RN Refresher course and completed it this past May. With the RN Refresher certificate, do I qualify as a new grad for a longer period of time than without it? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
