Venting
My program was like that too, one sem the clinicals and lectures did not always match (like we were learning OB in class but some clinical groups were medsurg or peds settings at the time) a lot of times we "went in blind" as you said. I studied and prepared for clinical outside of school. I got pocket books online for peds/ob and asked a ton of questions at the hospitals. Nursing school is hard and not always fair but neither is life. Try to approach class not as a place to learn the material for the first time but to review and ask questions about what you already learned from the reading you did on your own. Get an NCLEX book like Sauders to review whats key about topics when you have a crazy amount of material on your tests, do the CD questions from your textbooks to practice, and try to enjoy the ride! It will be over before you know it. Best of luck to you!

Did anyone applied to Palomar's Residency Program?
Hi! Just thought I would give an update about Palomar. They selected about 50 candidates to interview, all internal from what I have heard and are doing a speed dating style interview for everyone this Wed. (Each hour 7 applicants rotate through 7 stations with 5min to interview at each one.) Good luck to everyone!

Nursing in CA
Hi! No you do not need to be a CNA here but I would certainly recommend doing something like CNA, MA, EMT etc because it will help you get into RN programs and will later help you get hired once you graduate! Best of luck to you!

ADN RN....do i have a chance at finding a job?
I would say you def have a chance! A lot of my friends have found RN jobs with an ADN and no experience, most positions ask for 1-2 years. If you are very worried I would recommend enrolling in an online RN-BSN, I have been told by HR offices that they consider that a plus when applying with an ADN. Best of luck to you!
