Hi everyone! I thought I would start this thread to see who is or will be applying for UCONN's CEIN 2016 accelerated nursing program! I am new to this board, but read several threads from last year and learned a lot about the program and application process. It would be great to hear from others who are in the same boat as me. :)
Congrats everyone!! I have 2 more prerequisites I have to complete next fall and spring semester.Quick question, is there only 1 application deadline / entry? Or do they admit for fall and spring or summer??
Thanks in advance and best of luck!
There are three deadlines (January, June, and August) where they review applications and offer admission. However, there is only one class per year, running from January through December. My understanding is that they try to reserve seats for candidates who apply for the June and August application review dates, so the program does not fill up from the January applicants.
ok so I have questions about financial aid and finances during the school year. I got the email about fiancial aid today, didnt have a chance to go on that website yet. Its said everybody's award a certain amount from staffrd loan, however, I have already complete my bachelor degreee and am pretty sure I used most of my federal aid. What kind financial aid options do I have? low interest loand, scholarship, grants, etc.
Since I have to quit my job to go the school full time, what are you guys doing to prepare/work through the school year financially?
As far as I know, you're essentially looking at all private loans and any scholarship money you can dredge up. We have people doing a bunch of different things. Some saved up money before the program, some are working as much as possible to offset the amount of loans they're taking out, and some are going all loans and hoping they get a job soon after graduation. You will hear more during orientation (if I remember correctly they spend an hour or so discussing it) but you can call and ask for additional information if you need to know before then.
Congrats to everyone who has gotten in so far! I was accepted to Storrs and I cannot wait! Does anyone know if a Facebook group was set up yet? I think that would be a great place for everyone to ask questions/connect, especially as the start date gets closer!
Congratulations Mara74!!!
So, I don't think a Facebook group has been set up yet but I agree I think it would be a great idea. If no one else knows of a group that has already been started would you want to create one? If not, I can try. Let me know what you and everyone else thinks! (:
Hm.. What do you think about doing it for all the program sites to start and then when it gets closer if people want to break it off into specific sites they can. I'm just thinking in the beginning we will probably all have the same questions.
Let me know if you have trouble making one. I've never done it before either but I can do my best to help if need be (:

Breaks are technically free from class and clinical. There's always reading assigned for the first day of class for any semester (including basically a whole textbook to read by day 1 of the program), but whether you actually read it over break is up to you.
