Any information on UC Denver NP program for fall 2018
Wow congrats! They seemed pretty firm on not letting anyone know until mid-March. So you must be a lucky one :) Did you by any chance have a rush to know because of other pending decisions at other schools?

Any information on UC Denver NP program for fall 2018
Emkaytae- I'm not really sure since I don't know all your specs. Do you have psych nursing or other psych experience? I would say call them up and ask what can make you a more competitive applicant. So sorry!

UConn CEIN/BS 2017
You change sites 6 times for Fundamentals, Child Health, Behavioral Health, Maternal Newborn, Community, and Med-surg. Good luck!

UConn CEIN/BS 2017
You do get to order the clinical sites by preference; however, this doesn't mean you will get what you want. For example, there were 6 sites for this med-surg coming up and I got my last choice. It totally conflicts with my work schedule; however, they said I have to keep it. They do not pick sites based on your work schedule and will often say that you have to flexible with the school. I did get first choice a few times which was great but you cannot always bank on it. Feel free to ask any more questions! This forum was super helpful for me last year when I was preparing for the program!

UCONN CEIN 2016
amb3582- I replied to your question on the 2017 forum but want to elaborate. I also work part-time and the program can be very inflexible at times. Most often we don't know when our clinical sites will be until a few weeks before the next semester. I work in a hospital that requires 1 month advance notice and at the beginning of every semester I cannot work because the school does not provide you with clinical schedule until it is too late. I have also had clinicals on Saturdays twice so I wouldn't assume that it can't happen. Not sure what kind of work you do but you may need to discuss this with your boss and see if they can be flexible with you! Let me know if you have any questions!

UConn CEIN/BS 2017
Amb3582- I am currently a student at Storrs. The clinicals vary greatly. Here's just an example of what I've had so far. Fundamentals was all days, 7-3 one day and 7-5 another. Summer varied a lot as well. For psych we did Saturdays 7-7p and another day 2-10. Maternity was 1-10 twice per week. My pediatrics was 7-7 two days a week. Community clinicals are currently unknown at this point. The med-surg rotation in the Fall is Friday, Saturday 7-5. Sites really vary and sometimes clinical instructors change the hours. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have anymore questions!

New Graduate nurse moving to Denver
Nurse924, I am graduating from UCONN this December too from the CEIN program. Were you able to get a job in Denver? My husband is most likely getting a job there and I was hoping to apply to some new grad programs. If you did get a job in Denver, any tips on relocating from CT? Thanks!

UConn CEIN/BS 2017
I am a current student in the program at Storrs. For the most part they are not too flexible with work. I work in a hospital and have to give my availability about a month ahead of time. Most times you do not have your clinical placements in time and there have been many times where I could not sign up to work because I had no idea when my clinical was going to be. There is always a chance that you could work on Saturdays. So for for my psych rotations I did Saturdays and this fall's med-surg clinical will be Friday and Saturday. I would say don't bank on always being able to go in for 5 pm. My psych rotation was 7 am to 7 pm on Saturdays for example. When selecting sites you do get to submit preferences but you may get your last choice, which is what happened to me this fall. They really expect you to be flexible and make your work schedule work around the program. If there any other questions about the the program I am more than willing to help out! Congrats to all that have been accepted!
