Hi Everyone!
I saw many other threads from the previous years so I figured I would start a new one for the 2018 cycle. I recently got accepted after applying for the February 17th deadline to my first choice, Avery Point. I just wanted to connect with everyone else that is interested in this program or anyone that is going to be in this program!
I'm really excited to hear from you all and good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear back or applying for the other deadlines! :)
Hey guys! Can anyone else not view their application on nursingcas online anymore due to the "new cycle"? If you can, how did you do it? I tried to view the status of my application but I can't...
No, the cycle ended. If you need to re-apply/didn't finish the application they give you an option to pick up were you left, I assuming it would transfer all the info to the new cycle.
Hi everyone,
I was told today that we all need to get our doctors to order IgG titers to check immunity for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella. we also need a flu shot and PPD tests for TB.
It is very important to get the Hep B, MMR and Varicella titers because if you are not immune (which you may not be even if you've been vaccinated), you will have to get the vaccines again before clinicals, and redoing the vaccines takes about four months. So, definitely call your doctors ASAP!

Yes, all of it was on the health check list that they sent to us in July. If any of you did not receive the list (it was suppose to come as an attachment), I suggest contacting Dorine, she was very helpful and emailed it to me.
As well, PPD is double step, I did not catch it nor my nurse did, thankfully someone else pointed out.
Yes! Hep B was a vaccine that Amelia stressed about when I emailed her about my immunizations. She said because if your were negative it is a long process to become positive that may not be completed by the due date. As for the other vaccines, it is important to make sure you are immune because once you receive the booster you have to wait another 4-6 weeks to re-do your titers test. I had to do this with my Varicella vaccine.
Hi all,
I wonder if any off you know anything about the financial aid situation. I haven't been sent any information pertaining to fee bills or such and have no idea when this is suppose to be paid. I am mainly asking because I will have to take out a school loan for the program and would like to know when I should apply.?
I got my NetID this morning! :) Finally things a re moving forward.
I eager to know more about financial aid too. From UCONN site:
Financial Aid Checklist
Complete the FAFSA:
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at Home - FAFSA on the Web - Federal Student Aid.
The FAFSA becomes available on October 1.
Students must complete a FAFSA each academic year.
Enter UConn's Federal School Code, 001417, on the FAFSA for all campuses.
The FAFSA must be received by the Federal Processor on or before the on-time FAFSA application deadline.
The awarding of most forms of University of Connecticut financial assistance is reserved for applications received and logged in by the federal processor on or before the on time application deadline. Please note that all awards are based upon funds availability.
Continuing students who applied for financial aid this past year should have received a FSA ID issued by the U.S. Department of Education. If you and/or your parent need to apply for an FSA ID, go to https://fsaid.ed.gov.
For further information about completing the FAFSA, click here.
So I assume the first step, they need to add us as accepted students. And if you noticed, FAFSA becomes available on October first. I had it open from before so I just added UCONN as a school on my FAFSA application but I do not expect anything to happen until 10/1/17.
The only thing we will have to pay now is $500 deposit. Then later it will be university fee ($1700), books, supplies and so on. I believe tuition will be due closer to the January.
I graduated Uconn with my bachelors in 2016 so my Net Id was just reactivated, which only took a couple weeks. Ive already sent in my deposit and my major on studentadmin has been changed to nursing. So I guess I'm a little bit farther than you. I guess we just have to wait about tuition. Does anybody have the complete list books for the entire program, I've only been able to get them for the fall semester. Also is there a specific stethoscope needed for the program or is it our choice?

Email Amelia, her email is on the checklist, she helped me out a lot!
I assume they want most recent titers so those prob you will have to redo, plus ppd must be recent as well. As it comes to the physical, talk to your insurance, maybe they will make an exception. If not, talk to UCONN and explain. They mentioned in the email that they would like to enter all information to the data bank in October so I assume it's the main reason they want us to be done by the October 13th.
