UCONN CEIN/BS 2018

Published

Hi Everyone!

I saw many other threads from the previous years so I figured I would start a new one for the 2018 cycle. I recently got accepted after applying for the February 17th deadline to my first choice, Avery Point. I just wanted to connect with everyone else that is interested in this program or anyone that is going to be in this program!

I'm really excited to hear from you all and good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear back or applying for the other deadlines! :)

Hi huskypride13

Best thing to do would be to email or call them and ask. I had bunch of questions prior starting my prerequisites too, I called/emailed multiple times and all my questions were answered. In order to apply, we had to completed an application on Nursing CAS and submit all transcripts there. I assume for prerequisites GPA they calculate only highest grade.

Did you guys get your student IDs yet? I was wondering how fast is it emailed after signed acceptance letter is sent to them.

Thank you Eglute! I already have e-mailed but to no avail. They're most likely very busy with applications right now. I'll follow up.

I was wondering the same thing. I am thinking that the id's will not be sent out after tomorrow since that was the deadline to sign your acceptance letter.

Thank you for your post! It was very informative. Quick question, from what I understand we need to have our checklist completed by orientation. What about the other stuff such as background check and drug testing. I am going on vacation for 3 weeks the day after orientation and just want to make sure I will be able to complete them on time. How much time do they give us to complete the background check and testing after orientation and can the test be done at any lab in the US or is it a specific one they send us to?

I don't know if things changed, but we received our student IDs on the day of orientation. They did an overview of things, and then we went to Wilbur Cross to take our photos and have them printed out.

In regards to prereqs, they had taken the highest grade. They really emphasized that it was a bunch of things that they took into consideration for admission NOT just our grades.

Background testing information will be given out at orientation. Don't do a background check prior, because they will make you do it again and pay another $65. They'll give you a paper and you do the background check online.

I haven't been drug tested at all during the program, but I know some clinical sites had to be. I think Middlesex Hospital.

Lastly, like someone else said, parking is expensive. Hartford Hospital is $9 a day and Yale and St. Raphael's is $12 a day. And they don't really take into consideration where you live when they choose the sites.

Hi Vinderbread,

Do you by any chance remember how long they gave you to complete the background check or when it was due by? Will I be able to complete it from my phone?

Hi! Quick question for you or anyone in the program currently...you mentioned they don't really take into consideration where you live when they choose sites...do we have some say in selecting certain locations? Like a list you pick from, or is just a lottery and you're assigned wherever? I was also wondering how many days per week are clinical compared to how many days we travel to campus...just want to get an idea of how my commute will look! Thanks in advance!

I don't remember how long they gave us to do the background check, but you could probably do it from your phone.

And there's no say in where you go for clinical. You're just assigned whatever. Class is one day and clinical is two days. If your clinical is an hour away, you'll be away from home all day since clinical are 10.5 hours each day. Class is just 8:30 to 6pm.

Anyone hear anything back yet for the most recent acceptance pool? Submitted my letter of acceptance but did not receive any response back with deposit info.

Dorine is on vacation until August 20 so we probably won't hear back until after that.

For the clinical checklist, anyone know if a physical from last year in November will be ok for orientation? My insurance won't cover for one until December. All the titer lab values I need are also from last year. Since Dorine is on vacation, someone else picked up my phone but she wasn't sure if it's ok or not.

The checklist says the physical should be on or after January 9, 2017.
