Hi Everyone!
I saw many other threads from the previous years so I figured I would start a new one for the 2018 cycle. I recently got accepted after applying for the February 17th deadline to my first choice, Avery Point. I just wanted to connect with everyone else that is interested in this program or anyone that is going to be in this program!
I'm really excited to hear from you all and good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear back or applying for the other deadlines! :)
Certificate Entry Into Nursing (CEIN/BS) | School of Nursing
•Health of Students: In addition to pre-entrance University requirements, students admitted to the School of Nursing must present evidence of the following prior to clinical experiences: tetorifice immunization within the past ten years; one poliomyelitis booster following initial immunization; flu vaccination; physical examination; tuberculin test (with chest x-ray for positive reactors); rubella, rubeola, hepatitis B titers (with vaccine if titer is negative); and varicella titer and any other tests required by affiliating agencies. Students who fail to provide written documentation that they have met the above stated health requirements will not be allowed in the clinical areas. Faculty reserve the right to recommend a student's withdrawal from the program for reasons of health.
I read through your feed and wanted to comment on some things...
For the October orientation, be prepared to pay for parking in the parking garage. You will not have your parking pass yet. As for the parking passes, it costs $45 per semester, not counting the summer. They will feed you lunch at the orientation also.
When you get all of your information at the orientation, they will tell you to buy a clicker for class that costs about $30 or $40. DO NOT BUY IT. We used it less than five times in Fundamentals, and you don't need it at all. I got mine for free from someone else, luckily.
Also be prepared to spend about $100 on equipment for clinicals (stethoscope, name tag, blood pressure cuff, scissors, etc) that is not included in your tuition.
You will also buy uniforms including white shoes and a watch. All of the information about this stuff will be given to you at the orientation.
Also be prepared to pay for parking at some of your clinical sites. People at Yale paid around $9.00 a day to park (expensive for students who don't work).
