Summer hopefuls talk here.... good luck to us all!!! :redbeathe
Congrats to everyone that has gotten interviews and job offers. Still waiting to hear back for an interview. My status still reads "you have been contacted for an interview" and hasn't changed since doing my talent plus interview over a month ago. Does anyone know if they are still calling people for NICU/Peds interviews? Does anyone know if they let you know if you have not been accepted. The wait is killing me.
I have psych clinical in a mental hospital for 9 hours every thursday, and I cant get to my phone. Do you think if i miss the call shell be like oh well. on to the next one? lol
I highly doubt that! :) I firmly believe that a lot of thought and consideration goes into selecting an employee for a hospital, especially one as prestigious as UCLA! If you're busy then my guess is they'll leave you a voicemail and only when there is no response or you deny the position, will they move on to the next candidate!
Thanks for your input. This makes me feel a lot better. If I need to be fingerprinted I hope I can somehow do that in NY and have them sent over or something. I would apply to take it in CA like you if I knew I for sure had a job there, but I don't know! So I'm just going to play it safe and take it in NY where I'm comfortable. Cali is so unfamaliar I just kind of didn't want any more stress on me during the test..like finding the place, paying for the flight, etc. Did you interview at UCLA// already have a job?
You are so welcome!! Yeah, you can get fingerprinted in NY. the CA Board of Nursing just has to send you the card in the mail and you get fingerprinted on that. The only reason I decided to apply for my license in CA is because out of the 8 hospitals I am applying to, 6 of them are in CA, and the process is more difficult than WA.
I totally get you on being out of the comfort zone!! I'm interviewing at UCLA for the PICU on Tuesday, and then I'm also meeting with some people at CHLA while i'm in the area. So we'll see! Are you interviewing as well?
Yes I interviewed at UCLA and childrens on April 14. Waiting for the call is a lot worse than the anticipation of the interview.. Totally out of my hands now! Where else are you applying? I was gonna go for cedars and USC and maybe some smaller hospitals but I can't find anymore places that have the ap up before May.

At this point, I'm only applying to children's hospitals. I applied to CHLA, UCLA, CHOC, Rady all in CA, then one in OR. The rest that I'm looking at haven't posted new grad positions yet.
Thanks for responding to me allie58D! I don't know if we interviewed with the same person. I do live in LA. Many many congrats on getting an immediate call back. I'd love if you let me know if you or anyone else who is reading this hears anything else from either the Cardiothoracic ICU or just the RRMC 7th floor in general. Like everyone else I'm incredibly hopeful but not having heard anything yet is making the despair creep in a bit.
I interviewed for Cardiac ICU also and still waiting. She said will hear something in 2 weeks. Hate waiting.

FOR ALL THOSE NEEDING TO PASS THE NCLEX:
I passed my boards last August, after graduating last June. As you can see, it has taken me almost a year, and still searching for that job...last october, applied on the second day, got wait listed..this time around obviously I was wiser :) anyways, congrats to those of you graduating soon and for getting on this early with UCLA, huge achievement!!
I did Kaplan, expensive but SO worth it. I did the 4 weeks long course as opposed to the more hectic two week one. I did spend hours practising, locking myself away for two solid weeks, after the 4 week course doing hundreds and hundreds of questions. It pays off, my test stopped at 120 questions...what a relief it was to pass the first time around :) I remeber thinking the test was not as hard as what we did at Kaplan's!! It is hard but totally doable so long as you are willing to invest some prep time. Just my 2 cents here but I want all of you to succeed first time around :)
