  1. For those who got offers from the UDs, have you completed any hire paperwork yet, and if yes how long did it take for HR to contact you? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Hi there, I replied to your PM but my outbox shows nothing, anyway, I still have not heard a thing about getting papers signed at HR, or a start date. The UD was not sure of dates when I last emailed her. Not sure what to do, I may give it another week before i contact her again because I need to organize myself (resign from current job...) Let me know if you find out anything. Are you in LA or from out of state?
  3. I finally got a call and was offered a position in the NICU. It was a voice mail so not much more info other than I will be contacted shortly. Orientation may happen in July, and start date in August, however no dates actually confirmed. I am relieved, very happy as it has been quite a journey to get here (countless applications). I want to wish all of you still waiting the best of luck, we all deserve this, we have all worked very hard. This thread has been informative, and above all very supportive. Difficult to imagine going through the last couple of months without sharing with you all this application journey. THANK YOU all and again best wishes to all of you.
  4. I applied in the first hour, delivered my packet on the 6th. I did not have a BSN but another bachelor's degree (which was in their criteria), anyway got my rejection email. The irony? That same day I was offered a position in the NICU at UCLA! I graduated last June, have had my license since August, and have applied to numerous programs in and around LA, got some interviews, then rejections...a long tough journey..all i can say is just don't give up, keep going at it, it will eventually happen (it may just take a little longer than we all anticipated) Good luck to all of you that have gotten an interview!!!!!!!!
  5. to cchukwurah :yes, i am keeping faith too, as it seems there are no patterns with all of this ucla hiring process:) i just hope we do not have to wait too long...
  6. Did anyone else heard from NICU besides "nursesrockit" ?? Today is the two weeks mark...not sure whether I should be calling or wait a few more days ???
  7. That is wonderful news, it seems you are the first one on this thread to earn your spot on the NICU, well done!! Did you get a call or an email? and was it from the UD (initials BS)? Hope to hear soon myself, one way or the other, the wait is so difficult....Congratulations again!!
  8. :yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:yeah!!!!!!!!! now if only the NICU calls could start happening ha ha!!
  9. That is fantastic, congratulations :yeah: may I ask you if you are a BSN? Thanks !!
  10. so far no emails and no calls...a good sign I hope :)
  11. For the NICU people, did any of you get a sense whether or not we were getting a follow up interview (panel) ? Yes this wait is agonizing....
  12. To all the NICU fpeople: same feeling, 20 minutes went so fast. I did ask how many people they'd hire, they said 4-5. I interviewed in the afternoon, and there might have been 4-5 of us...any ideas how many actually interviewed? They also said two weeks!!! I guess we just need to wait patiently
  13. FOR ALL THOSE NEEDING TO PASS THE NCLEX: I passed my boards last August, after graduating last June. As you can see, it has taken me almost a year, and still searching for that job...last october, applied on the second day, got wait listed..this time around obviously I was wiser :) anyways, congrats to those of you graduating soon and for getting on this early with UCLA, huge achievement!! I did Kaplan, expensive but SO worth it. I did the 4 weeks long course as opposed to the more hectic two week one. I did spend hours practising, locking myself away for two solid weeks, after the 4 week course doing hundreds and hundreds of questions. It pays off, my test stopped at 120 questions...what a relief it was to pass the first time around :) I remeber thinking the test was not as hard as what we did at Kaplan's!! It is hard but totally doable so long as you are willing to invest some prep time. Just my 2 cents here but I want all of you to succeed first time around :)
  14. I had a five week rotation in PEDS with three days in NICU, and then another three days as part of the maternal health rotation. I was also in the OR for 3 C-sections where NICU nurses attended because they were high risk births...all in all not that much experience...I doubt anyone coming out of nursing school will have that much experience, it seems the bulk of our rotations were done in med-surg...unless you were one of the lucky ones doing a preceptorship in NICU (not offered in my last semester...)
  15. Good to find some familiar names on this thread: Hi Allie58D and Lovepeacelove!! I too apllied to CHLA, to NICU again....betwen UCLA and CHLA, the wait is doing me in!! I applied last year to CHLA, even before I had my license and nothing happened, they hired all internal candidates....hope things are different this time around !! Good to hear you were able to schedule an interview while here in LA Allie58D!! Good luck to all of us, we have worked so hard for these licenses, let us begin our dream!!
