UCLA New Grad RN SUMMER 2011

Summer hopefuls talk here.... good luck to us all!!! :nurse: :redbeathe

I think the start time varies....it says sometime in July to Aug.

Really? I thought it was June

I figure it depends on the unit/hospital, but I thought the classes would probably all start around the same time. I can give HR a call today or Monday to find out for sure.

Thanks!

To provide some information to everyone. HR called and set up an interview with me for L &D on April 26. She told me each time slot for an interview is 20 minutes and there are many slots left on that day because I was one of the first ones to be scheduled. The nursing manager will be at HR building (not at Ronald Reagan) to conduct the interview the whole day. I asked if I get pass this interview, will there be further interview with the manager bc 20 minutes is really short. HR lady said she doesnt know and it will depend on the manager then.

So peeps, who ever picked L&D, HR will call you soon. Sit back, relax and chill. Wish you all the best of luck.

The call from HR was today around 11:30 a.m

Hello everyone,

I also got my call today for NICU for the 26th. Indeed the interviews are held in HR, 20 minutes, and they were slots available only in the afternoon (morning all filled up?) I asked if I was meeting with anyone else and was told that only with the unit manager due to high number of candidates (??)

Apparently they got over 1700 applications this time around!!! We should all feel very blessed getting these interviews.

I was asked to bring in my RN license, my certification cards, and she very kindly told me to use their parking, we get validation:) I also asked how many people they would need for that unit, she did not know for sure but seemed to think quite a few (not sure what to think)

Anyway, it was thrilling to see that prefix of (310) + the 825 number come up on my caller ID.

I was told to hang on tight yesterday when i called recruitment to find out about the status of my application. It came today, I am happy.

Wishing all of you who got interviews scheduled the very best of luck, and for those still waiting to "hang on tight" !

Congratulations to my peds girls!! NICU was my third choice..... soooo I am still holding out for a PICU or peds call! :redbeathe :heartbeat

Also, 20 minutes, oh my gosh! How are you supposed to shine the brightest in 20 minutes? That seems like barely enough time to introduce yourself and get comfortable.

I also got the NICU call today! I applied within the first 30 mins of the application opening. NICU was my first choice and they verified my choice by phone. No RN license yet so hopefully that will not hurt my chances. Good luck to everyone :)

COngratulations, all NICU ppl :)

I wish that happend to me too soon:heartbeat

Hey guys, what are the dates that are set for in-person interviews?

Are any of you applying for a second time? I applied last Oct, but did not make the cut after doing the Talent Plus interview (altho I thought I did alright on it). Because they still have my file, I did not have to repeat the Talent Plus interview or have my references re-do the Skills Survey. My status shows that I will be contacted for an interview, and HR told me that I should get a phone call within the next few days.

FYI, I applied in the first hour of the job posting and have an MSN (clinical nurse leader) and my license. No experience in nursing apart from my clinicals (none at UCLA). I'm super excited to hopefully interview this time! But kinda surprised that what wasn't apparently good enough last time will take me on to interviewing this time. My choice of units didn't really change.

Hey Hey. Im on the same boat as you. Thats nuts you have a MSN and wasnt accepted. So what is your status this time around?

So it seems that no matter what education you have or how fast do you applied the selection seems to be totally random. How it is possible that someone with an MSN don't stand a better chance?

I don't know..... i am feeling pretty discourage.... finding the first job it's going to take more than i anticipated....

:crying2:

Oh Yes CaliRNhope. Ive been graduated since May of 2010 and still dont have a job in a acute hospital. Its so hard, discouraging and tiring. trying to find a job. especially when coming into nursing, landing a job was told to be promising. I can believe how many new grads are still jobless. we didnt go to 4-5 years of hard, sleep-less, hair-losing, stress-induced palpitations of nursing school to now be chin deep in loans that we cant pay for.

wow, im heated. haha

I'm in the same situation (except I have a BSN). I haven't gotten a call for the TalentPlus interview yet; they only sent me the dates, which are all sometime in April, so I haven't gotten a call yet to schedule it. The first time around, I only got as far as the TalentPlus interview.

Hey Sharon, So you did the Talentplus and references last time you applied? and they had you do it again this time aorund?
